Cedric and Aurelia were hard at work, The palace was basically brand new; however, Aurelia had to fit into her queenly duty.
Guardians lined the walls, acting as perfect royal guards.
While officially she was only a regent and not official queen, it did not matter, for she knew the truth.
Cedric had expected of her to become a proper queen, and so she would have to Act in accordance to her beloved's expectation.
Now before her stood a noble, one of the dukes and a head of a major family.
"A regent? By whose authority?" The man's voice dripped with mock civility. "Or did you crown yourself while the real rulers were bedridden?"
His hair was long, brown, tied in a ponytail, and His eyes were deep brown.
He looked at Aurelia, who sat on the throne with a slightly worried expression. His gaze looked around, seeing demihumans around her like they owned the place.
Aurelia straightened. "My father and brother are ill. There was no time to gather the Senate."
"Ah, so a power vacuum. Convenient." His smile faded. "You've overstepped, Lady Aurelia. This isn't a fairy tale. Thrones aren't claimed by frightened daughters with pet beasts and flowery titles."
Aurelia's heart raced, not with fear for herself, but for the fool before her. He didn't see Ladios shifting, hand hovering near his blade. One wrong word, and the floor would drink noble blood.
"Ladios, stand back... He doesn't realise what he is talking about." Aurelia ordered softly.
His gaze swept over the demihumans flanking her, eyes narrowing. "A woman backed by demihumans... This kingdom must look like a circus to our enemies."
With those words, he stood up and stormed out of the palace.
Aurelia pinched her forehead as she sighed deeply.
"Dealing with noble houses might not be as easy as I hoped..." Aurelia lifted herself from the throne before walking toward the garden.
No, she always knew they would be troublesome ever since Cedric had given her the duty of a ruler.
'Why couldn't my beloved just become a king? Then I could be like mom was and just warm his bed...' She blushed as she approached the garden.
'Come on, Aurelia, you are better than this... Your beloved has so much expectation you can't fail!' she reassured herself despite the lust she felt every time she thought of her beloved.
With a quickened step she approached the garden, Angels and new Palace staff have made sure it was brand new.
In middle of it was a small gazebo.
In recent days she loved relaxing here, before it gave her bad memories, but now...
It only reminded her of how her future husband had saved her from an evil father.
She had loved this place now, she loved the palace.
No she didn't love the palace; she loved the man that gifted her the palace.
She took a seat inside the gazebo as she took a deep breath.
She saw her new maids approaching her, ready to serve her with warm smile.
"As usual, Queen Aurelia?" Little girl that was her first maid asked.
"Of course." She waved them off as she returned to her thoughts.
'Its not only nobles; its Iguva's empire I'm worried about.' She leaned forward.
When she had shown the letter to Cedric, his fury almost suffocated her despite her being immensely more powerful now.
He had rushed off somewhere, saying that Demons will learn to fear God's Legions.
If she had known her beloved, he would spend 3 months summoning Angels.
She had only seen him at night when they had their mutual Bible Study.
It was the second best thing she wanted to do with the man, but she had to have patience.
While she wished for the man to strip her and let her ride him until the dawn she knew it was not possible.
He again and again made it clear, but it did not mean she was about to quit her pursuit.
Her lust had lessened a bit as they studied together, she was used to seeing the face of her beloved.
She was undeniably still lustful and deeply in love, however, she was getting better at keeping down her lustful thoughts.
The maids returned with a wine pitcher before pouring the red liquid into a glass.
Aurelia wrapped her fingers around the glass before taking a small sip.
She did enjoy being treated like proper royalty, but it wasn't something she could focus on.
No, her current goal was figuring out a way to handle the nobility that would eventually become suicidal and attack Cedric or herself.
'How do I save these fools... They might have treated me badly, but they do not need to die...' She took a deep breath.
If needless death could be avoided, she would do her best, however, house Sapphire had already made themselves hostile against her considering their representative attitude against her.
Her Archangel guardians have already heard his attitude, House Sapphire was likely on the chopping block from the get-go.
As such, she focused her attention towards Ruby and Topaz.
They were the only nobles who were ever open to change, but despite that they never approved of a woman ever being in a leading position.
However, if Aurelia was able to make them see an error in the old ways and let them turn to Christ, perhaps then they could be spared.
"Bring me parchment! I need to write a letter." Aurelia gestured to the maids who promptly made their exit.
She was unsure if her behavior fit a royal, but nobody would expect a useless daughter to ever be in a ruling position.
It took moments for Maids to bring her parchment and quill, with a quick movement of her hand she started writing the missive to House Ruby and Topaz.
'God, please grant them vision so that they may see past illusions of Chrunus. Grant them wisdom to not go against your Chosen. Amen.' She prayed as she wrote.
