"So," Nate said, folding his arms as he stared at Jack. "What's this solution you found for Sera's nightmare?"
Jack grinned like a kid who just finished building a Lego masterpiece. "Glad you asked." He swung his school bag around and unzipped it, pulling out a small object that looked suspiciously like a single AirPod. It was sleek, metallic, and definitely homemade.
Nate squinted. "What the hell is this?" He took it from Jack, turning it around in his hand. "You want me to plug this into her ear?"
Jack nodded proudly. "Exactly. Just wait for her to fall asleep, then slip it into her ear. Should take her to a happy place instead of the usual nightmare. Like a mental projection."
"Should?" Nate's voice rose in disbelief as he facepalmed. "You haven't even tested this, have you?"
Jack scratched the back of his head, looking everywhere but at Nate. "Eh… minor details."
