The charcoal Bentley rolled out of the villa.
Inside the car, Liam Archer's mind was still replaying the scene of Rachel Foster bidding farewell to Kingsly Scott at the villa's entrance. Her reluctance was evident as she held her child. The image warmed Liam, prompting him to glance at his boss in the rearview mirror.
His boss, Mr. Scott, was leaning back against the seat, eyes closed in repose.
The lines on his face no longer showed the reluctance he had expressed when he said goodbye to Rachel; they had resumed their usual cold and stern demeanor.
Liam couldn't help but let out a soft sigh.
It caught his boss's attention.
"If you have something to say, say it," Mr. Scott said, his voice low and calm, eyes still closed.
Liam hesitated for a few seconds before speaking up. "Boss, I think if all this were real, it would be beautiful."
