At night, Lucas returned to the mansion. As he came in, he realised that there was a kind of depressed and sad air all around the mansion, something totally opposite after the visit of Waynes in the past. Mr. Peter welcomed him
"You're early!"
Lucas couldn't help and asked "The Waynes. They left?" He thought they would be here as he was 'coincidently' early
"Miss Crystal needed rest as she's still a patient so left early." Mr. Peter informed
Lucas recalled how she beat that man in the club then her stunt at the company making him mumble "Looks like everyone knows that she's a patient except for her."
"Young Master, Old Master is waiting for you in his study."
"Why, her favourite granddaughter demanded something unexpected once again?" the sarcasm was clear in his voice
In return, Mr. Peter whispered sorrowfully, "This time, her demand was really unexpected."
Hearing his reply, he frowned "I'll meet grandpa after getting fresh."
"Dinner?"
To which Lucas nodded his head
"I'll make preparations." Me, Peter left from there
Lucas went to his grandfather's study after getting a freshen-up, he found his grandfather was busy reading something.
"Grandpa, you called…" he wasn't able to continue as his eyes fell on the ring that was in the centre of the table.
Without taking his eyes off the book, he told his grandson "Take this and give it to whoever you want."
Lucas felt a sudden heaviness in his legs making it hard for him to take each step "What do you mean?"
"Crystal returned this." James briefed
"She returned it herself?" As he picked the ring, he spoke to himself then curling the ring in his fist he sneered in a hard voice before going out "And I thought that she would never break her promise."
But his steps are halted by James' voice "Don't forget who broke his promise first. She deserves to be happy and unfortunately or fortunately you can't bring that happiness to her."
"Young Master, dinner is ready." Mr. Peter knocked at the study door.
Lucas went to his room saying "Not hungry anymore." While James looked on.
Lucas was sitting on the bed staring at the ring in his hand then took out another ring from his coat's pocket and put them together. It was a couple ring which was given to him by his grandmother to him and Crystal on her deathbed. She said that these rings were passed on to her by her ancestors. He still remember what she said to him,
'This ring is named FATE. When he and she wear these rings, their fate is tied together, so choose the person wisely.'
It was a sign of belonging and their engagement ring which he made her wear saying 'I'll always take care of you. You'll always be my priority and I'll protect you.'
He then recalled that kidnapping incident in which he was alone in a room "You abandoned me once again." there was a flash of pain and anger in his eyes
At Wayne's Villa, Crystal was sitting in front of a blank canvas in her room. She dipped her paintbrush with sea-blue eyes saying "This time, I won't abandon you. I promise."
