Chapter 134 - News Spread Wide

"Are we having a group meal today?" Minato asked, his eyes lighting up as he saw Xin opening the fridge to check the ingredients left inside.

Xin often bought extra meat to store in the fridge, just in case he didn't have time to go shopping. That way, he could always cook something up when he wanted to.

"You're cooking?" Xin turned to look at Minato.

Minato's smile faltered for a moment before he scratched his head. "Well, uh, I'd love to cook, you know how much I enjoy it... but my cooking isn't as good as yours, and I'm worried Mikoto and Kushina would be disappointed."

"How about we stick to the usual plan? I'll buy the ingredients, and you handle the cooking?"

"Alright, fine." Xin thought it over and agreed. It wasn't a bad idea to get together and relax a bit, especially after their recent mission, which had left Minato and Mikoto pretty shaken up. They could use a good meal to soothe their nerves.

"Great! I'll take care of the shopping, then," Minato said, perking up. He dashed out the door, forgetting all about the bruise on his face.

"Kushina really didn't hold back. Hopefully, Minato's face doesn't swell up too much," Xin muttered, shaking his head as he started preparing some of the ingredients.

He could already guess what Minato would bring back-it was always the same stuff. In the world of shinobi, people didn't care much about gourmet cuisine, and there wasn't a huge variety of ingredients to choose from.

In a concealed cave, Orochimaru removed the scroll from the carrier hawk's leg and casually released the bird back into the wild.

"The old man?" A dirty, unshaven Jiraiya yawned, looking a bit out of sorts.

The constant battles between Konoha and Amegakure were taking their toll on the trio, leaving them exhausted.

Tsunade sat silently on a wooden log nearby, her face tired and drawn. Of the three, she was the most worn out. Not only did she have to fight, but she also had to treat the injured and concoct various potions and medicines.

Given a rare moment of respite, all Tsunade wanted was some rest, far away from the village's affairs.

After all, the Third Hokage had made the ridiculous decision to put Danzo in charge of the front lines. Absolutely absurd.

What was wrong with using the Nara leader? He has the intelligence, strategy, and experience needed for such a role. But no, they put Danzo in charge-a recipe for disaster.

Yet, despite her frustrations, the Third Hokage had appointed Danzo as the commander of the front lines.
