"Today we summon God!" The cleric's voice thundered, an earthquake rumbling behind.
Mors swam through the wave of bodies, the sweat sliding across his skin. The air reeked—sour and pungent, clinging to his nostrils.
Running his fingers through his hair. 'Hours... Really? This is a waste of energy.'
His fingers gripped the jagged rocks of the bathroom. Flinching, he hauled himself up. With a final groan, he rolled onto the roof tiles.
The sea of bodies stretched as far as he could see. 'There has to be more than a million people here.'
Below, Mors noticed Machi, Serin, and Dale roaming through the crowd. Waving, he offered his hand. They gripped it as they climbed up. He proceeded to laugh as they pointed at the cleric.
"I'm surprised he's still at it." Machi glanced at Mors. "So how have you been?"
Mors laughed. "Honestly, bored. The last time they did this, I was excited, but now I think they're full of shit."
"Yeah, right." Dale smiled as his eyes drifted upward and his voice cracked. "What the hell is that?"
Sweat poured down Mors's face as he followed Dale's finger. A chill rushed past, raising goosebumps.
The cleric grasped the goat, slashing its neck. "God, hear our call! We beg of you, bless us with your holy presence!"
The sky split open. A massive hand shooting down straight through the cleric's stand, driving into the planet. Screams erupted as a monstrous head followed, its countless eyes glowing.
"Run, now!" Mors screamed, his voice cutting through the chaos.
The wind howled as they bolted away from the beast, diving off the bathroom roof. They hit the ground, rolling into the impact as a scream pierced the air.
Flames billowed from the sky as the countless eyes on the monster's face flickered to life. It drove its thousand legs into the earth, and the eyes released lasers towards the fleeing crowd.
"What the hell is that thing?" Serin screamed, slipping and driving her face into a nearby building.
She gripped her face, which was bleeding, crying out. Mors yanked her to her feet and threw her over his back, wheezing as he sprinted towards his now-distant friends.
The air burned as a bright light flashed, searing Mors's back. He spun around, the color draining from his face.
"Serin?" His eyes landed on her charred remains.
Machi whipped around, tears streaming down her face. " Mors, run—now!"
The ground quaked, and buildings crumbled. The sky turned red as the creature opened its mouth, revealing spiny teeth. A laser leaving its grotesque mouth, tearing into the earth.
"We have to move now! Stop staring, Mors!" Dale crumbled to his knees as the ground rumbled violently.
Dale stood up as the ground cracked around him, revealing a blinding red light. A beam shot towards the sky, devouring the clouds and everything in its path.
"Dale!" Machi's face covered in tears as she crumbled.
The sky cracked open once more, revealing a glowing humanoid figure crowned with a bright white halo. It pulled a staff from the crack, its length extending three times its body, and waved it.
All of the humans started to float up into the air, their bodies littering the sky. Lasers streaked through the sky, finding their next victim.
The glowing figure waved its staff again, releasing countless lights that dove into the remaining humans, vanishing within them. Mors was hit with the cool light, the warmth returning to his face.
At the same time, a beam grazed his nose, blistering the skin. He turned, the warmth draining from him as he saw Machi's charred remains. He looked down, tears streaming down his face as he looked at the ruined buildings.
"We were supposed to go to class tomorrow. we had college together next year..." His eyes hollowing as he stared at the sky. 'Machi was my best friend.'
The sky split open in several places, revealing a dense jungle. Mors fell towards the crack in the sky, his stomach lurching. He looked around as he and a crowd of others tumbled into the rift.
Mors's lips turned blue as he passed into the sky of the jungle. Looking down, he saw a black, living wave, which revealed itself as a flock of deformed birds. Their shrill cries making him curl into a ball.
He could hear screams and crunching sounds as the group thinned out. Covering his ears from the rumbling wind, a calm voice entered his mind.
'Hello, sorry for the unfortunate event that befell your planet. To keep things short, you all now have an ability.'
Mors rubbed his ears, which became covered in blood as the voice talked.
'This is going to be your new home planet. Please get comfortable—your planet is gone.'
Mors looked over, his eyes widening as he saw a giant humanoid figure off in the distance. It bent down, lifting a mound of rocks and hurling them. The rocks whizzed past, crushing humans and birds alike.
The trees change color from red to green, creaking while they moved. The ground below yawned open, rushing up to meet the falling humans.
'What the hell is going on! We're going to die from the landing!' Mors gripped his throbbing chest, his vision blurring.
Mors's eyes ripped open as one of the people near him burst into flames as he fell, scorching the air as he plummeted. The man was screaming and flailing his arms wildly.
"What the hell! How the fuck did that happen? Mors yelled, his arms flailing, eyes wide in disbelief.
The voice blared once more. 'One more thing before I can't communicate with you. Make sure you look for the nearest town.'
Mors frantically looked for a town, spotting one in the distance. Keeping his eyes trained on the small town, he plummeted through the trees. The branches clawed him as he crashed, tumbling through the canopy.
"Fuck, I can't feel my face," Mors screamed as a branch slammed into him.
He spiraled to the ground, being flung around each branch. Another beast's screech pierced the air, and Mors retched.
'I can't believe I'm going to die like this...'
The ground rushed closer. He hit with a bone-jarring thud and blacked out.
