The next day, David felt refreshed and energized. When he found Annie, he noticed she seemed a bit worn out.
"Didn't sleep well?" he asked, puzzled.
"A little," Annie replied, her eyes showing a hint of something unusual before quickly changing the topic. "I've already notified the others."
David's eyes lit up with anticipation. "When will they arrive? Do you need me to pick them up?"
Annie thought for a moment and replied, "They usually stay well-hidden, so it's best to let them come on their own."
Seeing this, David could only nod. Annie had evidently left an escape route for the witches. If any of her companions changed their minds, they were free to leave.
With no more information about the witches for now, David turned his attention to learning about Annie's abilities. Annie's talent lay in her mental contract ability, and she had learned summoning magic from a book of summoning. This ability allowed her to use certain mediums to set up a summoning array, bringing forth corresponding summoned creatures.
Typically, controlling summoned creatures was difficult, but Annie's mental contract talent enabled her to summon and control them effectively.
"So, I can learn summoning magic too?" David's eyes brightened. If he could master summoning, he could summon powerful beasts, adding to his combat strength.
However, without a mental contract talent, the effectiveness would be limited. As he considered this, David glanced at Annie. It seemed that witches generally had attractive appearances. He wondered if she might be willing to spend some intimate time with him.
Annie, possessing strong mental abilities, was highly perceptive to external cues and immediately sensed David's gaze. She took a step back cautiously, watching him warily.
"Uh," David hadn't expected Annie to be so alert. He smiled and said, "You must know I'm very interested in everything about witches. Could you share some of your knowledge with us?"
"Of course," Annie nodded. They were now partners, and she also wished for the Frostwolf family's power to grow. She had already organized much of her knowledge during her time in the manor.
Although David sensed Annie's wariness, he was pleased to gain access to the witches' books. Currently, his main focus remained on his knightly and icy powers. While Annie's mental abilities were significant for enhancing power, he decided to wait and build a rapport with her first.
Taking the book from Annie, David began to read. The Book of Summoning was its title and represented the witch inheritance Annie possessed. As he delved into the complex spell models of summoning magic, he furrowed his brow, finding it initially incomprehensible.
Summoning magic differed greatly from basic elemental magic like wind, water, fire, and earth. The knowledge and experience he had didn't easily apply. To learn summoning magic, he needed foundational knowledge in summoning studies to gradually decipher the spells and construct models.
He shook his head, feeling a headache coming on. As he continued to browse, he suddenly paused. Besides summoning spells, the book also contained information on nurturing summoned creatures and a potion recipe.
The Crimson Elixir.
This potion was brewed using the blood of magical beasts. Depending on the blood used, the elixir's effects and potency varied; blood from the same species of magical beasts was ideal, with higher levels being better.
"This potion isn't difficult to make," David's eyes lit up, "but finding magical beast blood is tricky."
His first thought was of the snow wolves. Unlike the gray wolves with only traces of extraordinary bloodlines, snow wolves were true magical beasts. He had two snow wolves: Little White was third-stage, and Little Snow was second-stage, potentially yielding third-stage and second-stage wolf elixirs.
"Can knights drink this?" David asked eagerly.
Annie shook her head, "The Crimson Elixir only works on magical beasts."
David nodded, then suddenly thought of his and Cynthia's beast transformation abilities. When they transformed, they fully activated their bloodlines, essentially becoming magical beasts with their associated powers.
Could they consume the elixir while in beast form?
"What happens if a regular knight drinks it?" he inquired.
"It would have no effect, and consuming too much could be life-threatening."
David nodded, planning to experiment. Consuming a small amount shouldn't harm him. If the Crimson Elixir proved beneficial, it could help Cynthia quickly enhance her strength, improving their dual cultivation results.
It wasn't long before Leah, Amy, Rena, Fire Dance, and Water Lily arrived on snow wolves. Although Gray Wolf Valley was deep within Frostwolf Forest, the snow wolves' speed made it a short trip, taking only about an hour.
Everyone was thrilled to meet the new witch.
"Alright, let's head inside," David suggested with a smile.
Amy approached with a grin, "Sister Annie, I'm Amy."
"Hello, Miss Amy," Annie smiled back, feeling a fondness for the fellow witch.
After introductions, everyone entered the castle. The maids, Fire Dance and Water Lily, began tidying up immediately, then prepared the ingredients they brought for lunch.
Annie observed the twins closely. Her mental strength far exceeded that of ordinary people, and she sensed something different about them. Twin lotus siblings of different colors were incredibly rare, and this was her first time encountering such a sight.
"Your Grace, have your maids undergone talent testing?" Annie asked.
