Chapter 267 - Fame Spreads Across the Magic World

— — — — — — —

Ishgar Magic Council Headquarters - ERA

Nine council members gathered in the chamber to discuss recent events.

"Even if we've taken down Eisenwald, it doesn't solve the real problem. Dark Guilds are everywhere."

"Then we need a strategy to wipe them all out in one go."

"And how do you propose we do that?"

"If someone uses Zeref's magic again, we're in big trouble."

Councilor Org held the flute, Lullaby. Now sealed, it had reverted to its original form, covered in cracks—a clear result of the damage inflicted by Erza and the others.

"What's strange is how such a powerful magic item ended up in the hands of those people."

"Seems like someone in the management is to blame."

The Magic Council was responsible for sealing dangerous items like this. If someone leaked its whereabouts, there would be consequences.

Jellal (Siegrain), one of the councilors, smiled. "This time, we owe our thanks to Fairy Tail—the guild everyone loves to steer clear of."

Ultear chuckled softly. "To take down an entire guild with only four or five people… That's quite something."

"It wasn't four or five people," corrected another councilor. "It was just one: Uchiha Kitaro, a newcomer to Fairy Tail."

The room fell silent.

Though Eisenwald had been utterly defeated, Uchiha Kitaro had spared their lives, leaving the members to be captured by the Magic Council. Through interrogation, the truth came out: a young man, Uchiha Kitaro, had singlehandedly obliterated their guild.

Fairy Tail was already known for its talented yet chaotic members. Now, they had someone even more problematic.

"Like it or not, it's a fact," Jellal continued. "If Lullaby had succeeded, either the local guild masters would've been wiped out, or the entire town of Oshibana would've been destroyed. Either outcome would've been catastrophic, possibly even affecting some of us."

If the guild masters had been killed, it would've incited rebellion among their members.

If the entire town had been annihilated, it would've led to unparalleled outrage.

And since Lullaby was a sealed artifact under the Council's protection, the backlash would've fallen squarely on them.

"Are you implying we're to blame for this?" Org snapped.

"Ridiculous! Those troublemakers caused enough headaches as it is!"

The destruction of Oshibana's train station and parts of the town was pinned on Uchiha Kitaro by Eisenwald and local witnesses. The new Fairy Tail recruit was already making waves—and not in a good way.

"All I'm saying is, let's set aside our biases for once and acknowledge their contributions," Jellal suggested. "Despite the damages, Fairy Tail stopped a massive tragedy."

The attempted attack on the guild masters' conference spread across the kingdom overnight. If Eisenwald had succeeded, it would've caused widespread panic.

Uchiha Kitaro's name now echoed throughout Fiore, solidifying his reputation.

To Kitaro, though, it wasn't a big deal. In his previous world, his fame had been far greater.

Meanwhile, Makarov could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Despite the collateral damage, the group had averted a disaster.

Had the Council pursued them for reparations, Fairy Tail would've been bankrupt in an instant. Selling the guild wouldn't have covered the costs.

Still, this incident gave Makarov a clear picture of Kitaro's true nature. Normally, the young man seemed quiet, always reading magic books like a model student. But beneath the surface, his recklessness rivaled—if not exceeded—that of Natsu and Erza.

And his magic? The stuff of nightmares.

Quake magic? Earthquakes, airquakes, seaquakes?

Just hearing those terms made Makarov's heart race. Any one of them could be a natural disaster. This kid was basically a walking apocalypse, potentially more dangerous than Gildarts.

Back at the guild hall, Natsu was yelling again.

"Kitaro! Let's settle this once and for all!"

Ever since witnessing Kitaro's strength, Natsu had been itching for a fight. He believed challenging stronger opponents was the only way to grow.

"Nope."

Kitaro didn't even look up from his book. The skill gap was just too big. Beating Natsu wouldn't be fun—it'd be a chore.

"Here I come! Take this!"

Kitaro glanced at him.

Thud.

Natsu collapsed to the ground, snoring loudly.

"So that's the power of the Sharingan's hypnosis… Incredible!"

Since returning to the guild, Kitaro's abilities had become an open secret. His Sharingan's hypnotic powers, in particular, left everyone stunned.

Putting someone like Natsu to sleep in an instant? That wasn't hypnosis—it was domination.

If he used it in battle, who could resist? A sleeping opponent might as well be a lamb to the slaughter.

Watching Natsu snore on the floor, everyone gained a new appreciation for the power of those crimson eyes.

But speaking of hypnosis, there was someone else in the guild whose magic was equally terrifying.

Just then, Kitaro frowned and turned toward the entrance.

"What is it?"

Makarov stirred.

"Hmm?" Mira noticed his uneasy expression. "What's wrong, Master?"

Makarov rubbed his eyes. "Nothing… I'm just a little sleepy."

"Wait...He is coming."

Mira suddenly yawned and collapsed.

"Wait a sec—!"

"I'm so… tired…"

One by one, the guild members fell asleep.

Before long, a man cloaked in black entered the hall.

"Mystogan."

Makarov uttered the name with a hint of exasperation.
