Chapter 264 - Taking It Too Far

— — — — — — —

"Ahhh—!"

Lucy screamed in panic. "You're going way too far!"

If Uchiha Kitaro kept this up, the entire train station would collapse into rubble.

Even 'Reaper' Erigor seemed shaken. What was with this guy? What kind of magic could unleash that level of destruction? Was this the kind of mage Fairy Tail had in their ranks?

Kitaro glanced around and shrugged. "Uhh… I'm used to fighting without holding back. Trying to tone it down is a bit... awkward. But trust me, this is me at my most restrained."

His "most restrained"?

Erza and the others stood frozen, trying to process his words. If this was the minimum level of destruction, what would it look like if he went all out?

"Don't worry," Kitaro added casually. "After this is over, we'll just blame all the damage on those guys."

Whoosh!

Suddenly, Erigor turned and bolted through the gaping hole in the station wall that Kitaro had created during his earlier attack.

"Damn it! He's running away!" Lucy yelled, her face paling.

"We can't let him escape!" Erza barked. "He's still got the Lullaby! If he gets away, who knows how many people will die!"

"Relax," Kitaro said with a calm smile. "He won't get far."

With a light tap of his foot, he lifted off the ground and flew into the air.

"...Flying?!"

The group was stunned. Sure, Erigor's ability to fly was surprising enough, but now this guy could do it too?

"Flying magic," Kitaro said casually. "Just one of my regular go-to spells."

"Regular... go-to spells?" Natsu stammered. "How many of these does he have?"

They'd already seen his "vibration magic," his flight, and some kind of advanced sensory magic. Then there was the water and fire magic he'd shown when joining the guild. Each one of those was beyond anything they'd seen before.

Without wasting another moment, Kitaro shot off after Erigor, a blur in the sky.

"Let's go!" Erza commanded, and the group scrambled to follow him on foot.

Up in the sky

"Damn it, this is all Kageyama's fault!" Erigor fumed. "Letting Fairy Tail interfere at such a critical moment... But it's fine. As long as I have the Lullaby, the plan can continue. I'll use it to wipe out those local guild masters at their meeting. Then everyone will know what true fear is!"

"Oh, so that's your plan?" a voice said casually beside him.

"What the—?!"

Erigor whipped his head to the side, his eyes nearly popping out of his skull.

That brat—Kitaro—was floating alongside him, matching his pace with ease.

Erigor slammed to a halt mid-air.

Kitaro stopped in front of him, hands in his pockets, smiling like this was all a game. "So, what's it gonna be? You can surrender, or we can race. Wanna see who's faster? I've never had a proper flying race before."

"You annoying little pest!" Erigor snarled, his pride boiling over. "You dare mock me?! I was gonna let you live, but now you're dead!"

Magic circles flared to life around Erigor, and countless blades of wind shot toward Kitaro at breakneck speed.

Kitaro sighed and raised his leg.

"Tempest Kick!"

His foot moved like lightning, slicing through the air and unleashing invisible shockwaves.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The wind blades shattered one by one under the force of his kicks.

"What?!" Erigor yelled, his confidence cracking.

"You've been slacking on your training, huh?" Kitaro mocked. "Your wind blades are way too weak."

"Damn you, brat! Die already!"

Erigor charged at him, swinging his massive scythe straight for Kitaro's neck.

With a calm expression, Kitaro raised one finger.

Clang!

The scythe stopped dead, caught on his fingertip.

Erigor's jaw dropped. "No way… You blocked my scythe with a finger?!"

Kitaro gripped the scythe's blade, and Erigor panicked, releasing his weapon and jumping back.

"Relax," Kitaro said with a smirk. "I was just holding it. Why so scared?"

"Shut up!" Erigor snapped, his face red with humiliation. "You've pushed me too far! Now I'll show you my true power!"

"Emera Baram"

A fierce whirlwind erupted around Erigor, swirling faster and faster until his entire body was encased in a spinning vortex of wind.

Kitaro's eyes lit up. "Oh, now that's interesting! Finally, something worth my time!"

"Let's see you handle this!" Erigor roared, unleashing a barrage of razor-sharp wind blades.

Kitaro vanished.

"What?! Where'd he go?!" Erigor spun around, frantically searching the sky.

He barely had time to look up before Kitaro appeared directly above him, one leg raised high.

WHAM!
