Facing enemies tens or even hundreds of times their own number, perhaps few people believe they could survive the battlefield. Yet in truth, the warriors of the Empire had long been accustomed to being outnumbered; after all, the Empire's population was limited. Despite encouragement to increase birth rates, for reasons such as maintaining the stability and development of the country and ensuring the elite nature of the legions, the number of warriors clad in armor and ready for battle always remained limited.
Thus, when they faced the seemingly inexhaustible Catastrophe Legion, they had to learn to win despite being outnumbered.
This could perhaps be considered a form of evolution. In this harsh survival environment, as the potential of the Empire's warriors was continuously unleashed, they really did develop tactics to win when outnumbered... or more precisely, they transformed knightly spirit into a sort of super group buff.
