Carlo whispered a prayer to the Death God, never stopping her steps.
As she walked deeper into the forest, the fog grew denser. In the heavy mist, Carlo nearly tripped over the tree roots beneath her feet several times, which only added to the terror in her heart.
A few steps further, she looked up and saw a flickering light on the path ahead.
Carlo shivered.
"What is that? Will o' the wisp? Ghosts?!"
The more she thought about it, the more her legs trembled, almost causing her to fall to the ground.
What made her more desperate was that,
she could no longer turn back at this point.
"Death God Nakbet, protect me, please turn away your gaze, and stop tormenting this poor soul."
Carlo knelt on the ground, praying frantically.
Soon after, Carlo slowly opened her eyes, stood up from the ground, and noticed that the flickering light wasn't moving closer to her.
"Could it be... not a ghost?!"
