Chapter 299 - Chapter 299: Falinks (Multi-Strike Style) vs. Lucario

Chapter 299: Urshifu (Multi-Strike Style) vs. Lucario

"After every year's Dragon-Tiger Cup ends, Master Hu personally comes down to explain martial techniques, and his multi-strike style Urshifu always performs a demonstration."

"Today's the final day of the tournament..."

"Let's go, bro, we'll head up together. By the way, what Fighting-type Pokémon do you use?"

The friendly trainer walking next to Hikaru chatted nonstop, gripping his hand like they were long-lost buddies.

Thankfully, Hikaru had activated [Malicious Pursuit] and confirmed the guy didn't have any ill intentions, so he let it slide.

He even answered,

"Lucario—but it's not with me right now."

The moment he said it, Hikaru felt a bit of longing. He hadn't seen Lucario since sending him off to train under Ryogetsu's Lucario. One month had passed—only two left to go.

"Lucario? Not with you? What a shame… Wait—Lucario? Are you Hikaru?"

The young man squinted at him, realization dawning.

"You're Hikaru! I remember now—you won this year's High School League!"

"Uh… yeah."

"Whoa! You're a legend!" the man said, lighting up.

"I'm Ryan. Great to meet you!"

Now that he realized who Hikaru was, Ryan's excitement tripled.

He began rapidly asking questions about Lucario's training—how it became so strong, what techniques Hikaru used.

Hikaru answered when he could, laughed off the rest.

He wasn't about to say, "It's mostly Lucario's natural talent." That would just sting.

Though their backgrounds were different, both were strong Trainers in their own right. While Ryan relied on physical conditioning, Hikaru was mostly using raw stamina to climb the mountain.

Despite how tall it was, the two of them reached the summit fairly quickly.

The mountaintop was nothing like the rugged ascent—

It was a massive, flat plateau.

Training grounds surrounded the area: wooden posts, iron weights, small sparring rings. But they were all empty now.

Everyone was heading to the large building in the center.

The structure resembled a traditional dojo, its wooden carvings full of Eastern flair.

Above the door, a massive sign read: Jingwu Hall.

Impressively, the building had near-perfect soundproofing.

Outside, Hikaru hadn't heard a thing.

But stepping inside—

A tidal wave of cheers hit him.

The interior was a massive battle arena with seating all around.

Unlike other tournaments, the crowd here consisted almost entirely of Fighting-type Trainers—and their Pokémon.

The energy in the room was explosive.

There weren't many people, but the passion in the air made up for it—this place was no less intense than a pro-level tournament.

Even better?

Admission was free.

But of course, it wasn't that simple.

To watch the match, you had to climb the mountain—no Flying-types allowed.

For Fighting-type Trainers, that was just a warm-up.

For others? It was a nightmare.

Ryan was practically glowing as he stepped inside, eyes wide and red-faced with excitement. His Mienfoo was bouncing beside him, throwing mock punches in the air.

Hikaru calmly found himself a seat.

"Seems like I made it just in time..." he thought.

After five or six minutes, the crowd had clearly settled in.

The doors closed, and the cheers reached their peak.

A Machop in the crowd was so fired up it leapt onto a beam it was carrying, making Hikaru jump in surprise.

Then, a man wearing a white martial artist's gi stepped onto the stage.

His physique was tall and solid—this was Hu Ba, the Fighting-type Elite Four member.

By his side walked a towering panda-like Pokémon covered in thick black fur, with a streak of white down its back.

Its calm gaze held overwhelming pressure.

Every step it took was fluid and powerful—like a mountain stream rolling over rocks.

This was Urshifu, the "Wushu Pokémon"—

A mythical figure among Fighting-types.

Naturally, Hikaru activated [Eye of Insight].

[Pokémon: Urshifu (Multi-Strike Style)]

Ability: Unseen Fist

Gender: Male

Potential: Champion

Level: 79

Moves: Endure, Aqua Jet, Rock Smash, Brick Break, Bulk Up, Aura Sphere, Focus Punch, Fire Punch, Protect, Rock Tomb, Thunder Punch...

---

"Huh?"

Just Champion-tier potential?

Hikaru blinked, surprised.

It wasn't that Champion-level was bad, but for a Pokémon with a mythical reputation, he expected something like Divine-tier potential.

Guess not every 'mythical beast' actually has divine potential...

Still, that Unseen Fist ability—

It was flat-out terrifying.

While most moves like Brick Break could be dodged, Unseen Fist ignored defense.

Every punch landed through Protect or similar barriers.

And with Urshifu's precise technique?

This ability was being pushed to its absolute limit.

Then, Hu Ba's deep voice boomed across the arena:

"To all my fellow warriors who've come from afar—thank you for supporting the Dragon-Tiger Cup all these years!"

"Let's not waste time. Let the finals of this year's Dragon-Tiger Cup... begin!"

"Finalists—please take your positions!"

After that declaration, he leapt effortlessly into the stands—easily clearing a five or six-meter gap.

Two Trainers walked onto the battlefield—one from each side.

A boy and a girl.

The boy wore a traditional white martial gi.

Beside him stood—another Urshifu.

Clearly, this was one of Jingwu Hall's own disciples.

On the opposite end, the girl had long pale-yellow hair tied into a ponytail and wore a sleek cycling helmet.

She radiated youthful confidence.

And walking beside her—

Lucario.

The moment the two entered the stage, the crowd exploded with excitement.

"Let's go, Ming! You and Urshifu got this!"

"Come on, Korrina! Take down that Urshifu! I believe in you!"

"Please, Lucario is strong, but Urshifu is on another level!"

"Pfft! We'll see about that. I'm cheering for the girl—go Korrina!"
