Chapter 20 - Growing

The books are not simple, and Zypher knows it.

These books cannot be obtained by someone in his caliber, but here it is.

Skill Books are always available in the market, and these common ones always appear, but for Zypher, who is being thrifty, these Skill Books are something he appreciates.

Summoning.

Although mages have this specific skill, this can also be obtained by everyone.

And for other classes, there can only be one summon that can either help them, disrupt enemies or fight for them.

For example, Lara the Jester in his past life, has a Fairy familiar that buffs her attacks, which made her fearsome in battles.

In his past life, as an Illusionist, Zypher can summon five different summons: a fire spirit, a witch doll, a black small skeleton, a cherubim and a succubus.

But, he cannot summon it all at once, but rather, one at a time.

This is also similar to the others, unless they are Summoners or Necromancers, or any Epic and above classes, they can't summon more than one per summon.

This is also why the game was so intricate that even the full-divers are having a hard time; for there are dungeons which needs buffs and debuffs and also a certain number of participants.

The one they are currently clearing now is an open party dungeon, meaning, it can be raided by any number of participants, often said as large-scaled dungeons.

Even if the whole populatin of players enter, they can fit inside, but the bad thing is, it will be a war inside the dungeon.

First, because open party dungeons spawns monsters directly proportional to the number of participants.

For example, a dungeon gives a player fifty normal monsters and an elite boss.

Once they hit the quota, the experience gain will fall by 10%, so that one person will not hoard everything, and everyone will benefit, and will happen once they hit another quota.

So, in case million of players enter an opent party dungeon, they will have billions of enemies, and the people will come in waves to get their own share.

Which brings to the second problem: greed.

Many people are greedy by nature, and in face of such gains, nobody can stop themselves from getting even the smallest gains.

Which brings to the last problem: disharmony.

Once they all can't get what they want, some will sabotage the situation, and make things messier.

A domino effect will happen, until the dungeon breaks, and no one can control it.

But, once an open dungeon breaks, that mechanism stops, and until the boss is slain, another mechanism is triggered: the Invasion Mechanism.

It was called Invasion because the monsters of the dungeons invade the host planet.

This will become their new teritorry, and may tip the balance of the surroundings.

There are three scenarios of the said outbreak that the humanity cannot stand against: The Cult, The Sea King and the Sky Island.

These three came from the other side of the dungeon, and until now, the forces of humanity still cannot defeat them, much less the Dark League.

Looking back to the pages he got, Zypher had already thought of the summons he can get from these, and now, he can't wait to use them in his plans.

But first, the Wraith Queen takes precedence.

The second floor is known as the Great Witches floor; it has seven rooms, one elite boss for each room, and different enemies.

On the first room is the Witch of Poison, who has bottles and bottles of poisons on her room.

To Leonila and the others, the Witches are hard to deal with, but, not for Zypher.

This is his first dungeon, so he needs to get his mind on things that he must do.

Without further ado, he opened the doors of the room, and used his slingshot to beat down the witch with bludgeoned balls that explodes upon contact.

The miserable cry of the witch came after few minutes, and from there, a rowdy chaos ensued.

In his past life, the Wraith Queen became a fourth power that crossed the border, but now, with him in the story, he won't let it happen.

During his past life, the Wraith Queen became a weapon of the Fifth Disciple, which gave Caelestia a hard time dealing with. This caused their own supplies to diminish and gave the other four guilds to strike them while they are weak.

But now, he must clear the trash before it becomes an avalanche that will come hurtling down, knocking down each and every wall they placed.

After the Witch of Poison was defeated, they came to the next room, which was the Witch of Plague.

Albeit hard for the others, Zypher's weapon made the clearing easier.

Getting the quota is the least of his worries as his level won't go up, and so, in a span of a few hours, killing the six witches became a chore.

Just when they were about to reach the next door, a sound of fighting can be heard from the inside of the room.

The last enemy in the castle is the Witch of Voodoo, the witch that deals with curses and bodily debuffs. This Witch is the nastiest of them all, for it can cast debuffs on them and buffs on itself.

This makes this elite boss tiring.

Suddenly, a brawny man charged at the witch.

His shield was blocking projectiles, but the dry spells such as debuffs slowed him down.

"Cleanse!"

A Priest, a support class now cleanses he debuffs that the Witch of Voodoo threw.

"Birch, now!"

A female with a mauve hat, loose uniform and a skirt came up with her tall stature, sharp eyes, ash blue hair and arrogant attitude.

Dozen of mana strands came to her, and an ethereal like staff came to her hand.

Esther Birch.

A genius Astromage, which became a sensation in his past life.

Zypher's eyes squinted a little bit at the sight playing before him.

"Nebula Rain!"

A rain of stars happened, as small balls of burning gases appeared as they struck the Witch of Voodoo violently.

Zypher signalled the others to stop and watch from afar, and to see the capabilities of the group before them, but Zypher already knows them.

In his past life, a certain group of players tried to break the game from the inside, as they tried prying on to the secrets of the game.

They are lorebreakers, story followers and the group of people that has 90% of the story progression: Basileus.

These players wear green vests on top of their class armors to know their affiliation. They are known for the symbol of the Ygdrassil Branch printed at the right chest part of the vests.

They are known for their Epic Classes, and was the very first to have a Legendary Class in Zypher's past life.

In fact, they are the people Zypher wants to meet the most, but this is too early in the timeline and the people he knows are a bit different.

The Elven Priest, Jayce von Northvine.

He was one of the players who fought against the Fifth Disciple, along with Esther, and killed the Fifth.

But, their eyes are soft, and without the hint of bloodlust.

Upon checking, the Dwarven Knight, the Human Gunner and the Beastman Assassin are not players, but are NPCs.

The Dwarven Knight is called Parm, and is a blacksmith. A typical dwarf, that carries a huge hammer and a shield that charges towards the enemies. He is also well versed in handling axes and spears.

The Beastman Assassin is of the White Cat Tribe, named Ami, and is versed in dagger techniques. It was surprising to see, as Zypher remember Releana and Rupin, who he was with before entering the city.

As Zypher was checking the people, an eerie laugh covered the whole room.

"HIHIHIHIHI! I found a good specimen."

Although a good game, only high level monsters such as final bosses and named bosses can talk, but right now, the Witch of Voodoo, which is clearly a subpar boss, talked.

But, it was not a voice of a witch, instead, a voice of something more eerie, something more powerful.

BANG!

A bullet flew to the face of the Voodoo Witch, and the bullet exploded on it's face.

"Specimen or not, you die today." A human woman with blonde hair, petite body and a huge Barrett on her shoulder came out as smoke can be seen on the muzzle of it.

Shocked by the revelation, Leonila jumped out from the back of the door, and unsheathed her daggers.

With a sudden movement, she appeared in front of the blonde woman, her dagger aimed at her neck.

"TANIA!"

Without hesitation, Ami and Parm appeared before Tania and blocked the dagger.

Parm used his shield while Ami used her two daggers, but what's surprising is that the two of them were outpowered by Leonila.

"Sis Leonila!" Adelaide ran towards the three as she whipped out her staff, but Kard decided to stop her.

A hand then pulled Leonila as a bullet passed through her face.

The sheer speed was scary, which sent shivers to her spine.

The hand pulled Leonila as they ran towards a pillar to hide.

As they were hiding, a sudden glow of red was seen in the surroundings and danger bells were ringing in Zypher's head.

"Not good."

Zypher, protecting Leonila, ran towards the door.

The others saw it and followed, but unfortunately, the spell was finished.

"Galactic Nova!"

Esther's Fifth-Tier spell, Galactic Nova, is unique to her class Astro Mage. It is a pillar of flame that descends from the heaven and will be on for five seconds before exploding.

This spell is one of Zypher's weakness as the spell has no cancellation method, and even if Esther's character died, the spell will still be finished.

Auto-cast, AoE, and no cancellation.

"HIHIHIHI!"

A laughter was heard as the pillar of fire was coming down.

"Drop!"

Suddenly, a massive ball of water appeared on the hand of the witch.

Afterwards, the ball of water flew towards the Nova Spell.

The ball of water looked like a ball of baseball thrown to a cannon.

But then, a sudden reaction happened.

The pillar of fire, that was looking like a fire dragon wanting to devour the lands was extinguished just like how a mirror broke down and melted.

"Cough! Cough!"

Violent coughs was heard from Esther as she fell down on her knees.

"Mana Restore!"

Jayce's spell, Mana Restore, a fourth tier spell, restored Esther's mana and prevented any damage due to the breakage of spell.

Golden lights covered Esther. Parm and Ami now are having buffs from Jayce's skill.

"Go!" Tania shouted as the sniper in her hand was stowed away and was changed into two handguns.

Running with Parm and Ami, they decided to go gung-ho as they fight the witch.

The spell of Esther was a distraction, for a fact. If it did not work, then they go on with the plan.

And if it worked, that's better.

Jayce, the brain of these people, is also a good commander at the field. The spell was to get the witch expend mana and they will have an easy time clearing it.

"Darts!"

The shrill voice of the witch was then heard.

Zypher, who saw the development, was also surprised, but not by the teamwork of the five of them, but because of the spells used by the witch.

Yes, spells.

In the game, there are different kinds of patterns.

First, abilities. In short, these are passive skills that can show what you can and can't do.

Second, Skills. These are active kind of abilities, derived from what you can do, and what you can do with more.

For example, the ability of Ice Mastery, and the related Skill is Ice Lance, Ice Wall and any other Ice related Skills such as Absolute Zero and Frozen Tundra.

Abilities and Skills are from the game's Artificial Intelligence, and can be obtained by various methods in the game.

While spells are different.
