Since there are a lot of cattle beasts present here, it's not just we students of the academy who come here to hunt, but also tamers from the city and the surrounding areas. Many are just some tamers who are trying to make a living, but not everyone is so.
There are a bunch of greedy ones who would hunt others to get their loot. A lot of deaths occurred in the areas, but without evidence, what could anybody do about that?
Even if the child of a rich and powerful tamer died, unless there was evidence, nothing could be done. This is why there should be teammates who have to watch each other's backs. One can't do all that all the time. Everyone needs to rest every now and then.
It means, they have to either leave their survival to luck or return to the academy every few hours whenever they seem to be tired. Both are the worst options, in my opinion.
Think about them for a second.
