——The Imperial Professor candidates… they're missing.
The words rang out from the corridor just as Margaret and Ezra arrived on the same floor after hearing the earlier explosion.
"....!"
Without hesitation, Margaret bolted in the opposite direction.
"Grand Knight, where are you going—?"
"Didn't you hear?" she called over her shoulder, barely slowing. "Vanitas is missing. Someone might've taken him!"
Ezra paused, processing her words. That shouldn't have been possible. There were four capable mages guarding him. Even if the others left to assist in the defense, Charlotte and Silas would've stayed by the professor's side.
Ezra nodded. "Understood. I'll head to the evacuation point and reinforce the suppression effort."
"Alright."
Without another word, they split paths. Margaret disappeared down the hall as Ezra turned the other way.
