Chapter 14 - 14 Little Papermen

At that moment, he didn't open the door. Those people waited outside for quite a while before leaving with no other choice.

As a result, the person next door got schemed against, and even the police showed up in the end.

Such incidents, once involved, even if one can ultimately cleanse themselves of the filth, the damage to one's reputation remains significant.

Especially for him, a teacher at such a prestigious school, the school wouldn't care whether he was framed or not, and those parents would be even less sympathetic.

With an annual income of several hundreds of thousands, not to mention various subsidies, such an enviable job, once tarnished, there would definitely not lack people wanting to trample him down.

Thinking of this, the leading teacher felt a chill of fear; his bright future had almost been ruined.

He was unclear about Yun Ran's background, but that did not deter him from making up his mind that during this period, he would take good care of Yun Ran, ensuring she had a comfortable time during the study trip.

Meanwhile, several hundred miles away, having been warned by Yun Ran, Deng Ming had just signed the contract and watched the first batch of seafood being harvested and transported away.

As he prepared to return, his car was about to pass by a reservoir when he suddenly felt a thunk in his heart and stopped the car immediately.

His brother-in-law had been running around with him for the past few days, nearly exhausted and just wanting to get back to the hotel to rest. Seeing his brother-in-law stop the car, he was stunned for a moment.

"Brother-in-law, what's wrong?"

"Bring out those tools you prepared earlier!"

His brother-in-law's face turned pale, his voice trembling: "Brother-in-law..."

"Hurry up!"

His brother-in-law hurriedly went to the trunk and brought out several large cleavers for chopping bones; as chefs, they were skilled with these large cleavers.

Watching Deng Ming place a cleaver at his feet, his brother-in-law's heart raced to his throat. He had been so busy these past few days that he'd nearly forgotten what that young girl had said.

Now, suddenly faced with this, his drowsiness vanished instantly.

"Brother-in-law, are you overthinking it?"

"Of course, it's best if there's nothing, but if there is, this is a matter of life, we need to be careful!"

His brother-in-law instantly imagined a series of scenarios involving robbery and murder, causing him to break out in a cold sweat.

As the car was about to leave the reservoir, his brother-in-law finally exhaled in relief, feeling that they had indeed been overthinking.

But at this moment, an accident occurred; the car suddenly malfunctioned, as though it had lost power, and they were hurtling directly toward the direction of the reservoir.

Both Deng Ming and his brother-in-law's expressions could only be described as terrified.

With a "bang," their car broke through the nearby railing and then plunged into the reservoir.

As the car gradually sank, both men panicked for a moment, but soon reacted, wanting to escape while the car doors and sunroof were still operable.

"Brother-in-law, I can't unbuckle my seatbelt!"

Hearing his brother-in-law's words, Deng Ming immediately grabbed the cleaver by his feet and aimed it at the seatbelt.

But eerily, the sharp cleaver couldn't cut through the seatbelt. Now, not only his brother-in-law, but even Deng Ming's face turned deathly pale.

Deng Ming handed the knife over to his brother-in-law: "You cut, I'll try to smash the window!"

Normally, a brick could crack a car window, but under the cleaver's impact, there was not even a scratch.

The car had already sunk halfway, and at this moment, the large cleaver seemed like it was made of foam, utterly useless.

"Brother-in-law, have we encountered something unclean..." Little Fatty looked at Deng Ming with a face full of fear.

The two of them simultaneously remembered what Yun Ran had told them earlier, to stay away from places with water. Why hadn't they believed her and just hoped for the best!

Yun Ran was originally walking with the main group, touring the ancient landmarks of the small town, reportedly the former residence of a great poet.

After the tour, they were supposed to write a reflection and then continue setting up charity stalls in allowed parts of the scenic area.

At this moment, she blanked out completely, just like a puppet, numbly following the group, listening to the guide recount the stories of the great poet.

Suddenly, Yun Ran stopped in her tracks, her brows slightly furrowed.

Then she pulled Little Fatty aside, "I need to go to the restroom. If they do roll call, please tell the lead teacher for me!"

Little Fatty hadn't even agreed when Yun Ran ran off, leaving him with his hands poised in refusal.

In the end, he could only mutter resentfully, "Why pick on me, the lone sheep!"

"Host, what's wrong?"

"The two people we encountered at the highway rest area are in trouble!"

Yun Ran didn't look good, although she verbally claimed she just gave them a warning, whether they listened was up to them.

But now, knowing that their misfortune had escalated to a fatal crisis, she couldn't just stand by.

Fortunately, during her previous stall set-up, she had prepared some items. Otherwise, trying to rescue from such a distance would have been too much, possibly laying her up for days.

Yun Ran quickly cut out two shabby-looking paper figures, tapped her forehead, and then released a bit of Primordial Energy into the paper figures, followed by a drop of her own blood.

"Go, pull them out!"

The paper figures obediently nodded, affectionately rubbed Yun Ran's fingers, and then with a swoosh, disappeared.

With her Little Paperman there, those two wouldn't die, but Yun Ran's brow remained furrowed.

"It was just supposed to be bad luck, how did it turn into this?"

Yun Ran calculated further and finally understood, the sudden fatal crisis they faced was due to flaunting their wealth, which attracted malicious intentions.

The distance of several hundred kilometers, even by plane, would take half an hour, but the Little Paperman arrived instantly.

At this moment, only the roof of Deng Ming's car was visible.

"Brother-in-law, I don't want to die..."

Looking at his brother-in-law's weeping figure, Deng Ming felt stifled, yet his hands continued to move in an attempt to free themselves.

His hands were already bleeding, but the seat belts were still tightly fastened around them.

Water had started to slowly seep in, an air of despair enveloping both.

With a "bang" sound.

The car window, previously unbreakable despite their efforts, seemed to have been smashed by something.

The water from the reservoir gushed in all at once, and unable to unbuckle the seat belts, they thought they were doomed.

Before passing out, Deng Ming seemed to see a palm-sized paper figure approaching.

After smashing the window, the round hand of the paper figure, resembling Doraemon's, gently tugged at the seat belts.

The secure seat belts, that seemed uncuttable even by a large knife, directly broke into pieces.
