Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Awakening

Kuoh Academy - Infirmary

The infirmary was bathed in soft twilight as evening fell outside. Souna entered the room, casting a critical gaze over the boy lying on the bed. His face was contorted as if battling some inner turmoil. Suddenly, his body arched upward, as if pulled by an invisible force, leaving Tsubaki anxious and uneasy.

"Souna, this doesn't look right!" Tsubaki exclaimed, her growing concern focused on the boy. "He won't make it. What if the reincarnation didn't work?"

Souna held out her arm firmly, stopping her from approaching.

"Tsubaki, stay calm," she said, trying to convey reassurance. "What's happening isn't related to the demonic power I placed in him."

"Then what exactly is happening to his body?" Tsubaki asked, confused, as she watched the boy in his near-convulsive state.

Souna closed her eyes for a moment, trying to focus on the energy surrounding him. "There's a strange force awakening within him, something that seems to be restoring itself, as if a part of him is returning to its original place."

As Souna and Tsubaki watched, inside the boy's mind, everything was a whirlwind of chaos and fragmented memories.

Inside the Boy's Mind...

"Am I… somewhere?" he thought, looking around only to find darkness. He felt like he was floating in a deep, oppressive void.

Gradually, memories of what had happened before he arrived here started flashing through his mind, bringing back fragments of his last day.

He remembered the call from his aunt, telling him that his recently deceased grandfather had left him an inheritance. Reluctantly, he prepared to leave home. He wasn't one to go out much, but curiosity urged him on that day.

Shortly after leaving, his aunt called again, asking him to bring along the katana he had inherited from his father. The weapon was always kept in his room, wrapped in a black cloth he had never managed to remove, as if it were part of it. Despite his curiosity, he always felt the katana held its own mystery, something almost sacred.

After spending a few hours at his aunt's house, he left, disappointed by what he had found. His grandfather had left him only an old, faded journal and a second katana, this time wrapped in blue cloth.

"Is that all?" he thought, observing the two items in his hands. He felt frustrated, wishing these katanas could be something more, something extraordinary. He thought of the epic stories that had always inspired him, imagining what it would be like to wield legendary weapons in a world full of adventures. For a brief moment, he envisioned being in a universe where hidden powers and supernatural forces actually existed.

Absorbed in these thoughts, he barely noticed a girl in front of him, distracted by her phone, starting to cross the street, oblivious to the oncoming truck.

He felt a surge of adrenaline as he saw the impending danger and, without a second thought, rushed to push her out of the way. The last thing he saw was the truck's headlights reflecting in his eyes before everything turned dark.

Back to Reality...

A sharp pain jolted through his body, bringing him back to the present. He felt a piercing light through his closed eyelids, making him squint. Gradually, he regained consciousness, sensing something strange yet familiar. It was as if he was reinhabiting his own body.

As he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw were two faces he instantly recognized, which left him momentarily speechless. Standing by his side, observing him intently, were Souna Shitori, the student council president of Kuoh Academy, and her vice president, Shinra Tsubaki. He knew them from somewhere... but where?

The initial shock quickly gave way to understanding. These two figures were among the characters he had watched countless times, and now they were standing before him, real, flesh and blood.

"This is impossible…" he thought, feeling his heart race. "Am I in the world of High School DxD?"

Souna and Tsubaki watched him closely, unsure of what to expect. The boy felt the warmth of new energy flowing through his veins, and though he didn't fully grasp what was happening, a smile appeared on his lips, mingling confusion and excitement.

Noticing his expression, Souna exchanged an intrigued glance with Tsubaki. He looked dazed, but something in that smile made them stay on guard. The boy's eyes sparkled with a glint that, even without understanding, seemed to promise that this new life would bring many surprises.
