Chapter 263 - Chapter 263 ⥤ I'm Just a Scientist, I Don't Have Much Power

"Schrift { R }, The Reiatsu."

Jugram carefully pondered this Schrift, studying the young man before him.

Unlike Hashirama's {W}, Madara's {R} was straightforward and simple. Even the illiterate person beside him could grasp its meaning.

Still, to be certain, he asked, "Reiatsu, you say? What specific effects does it have?"

Aizen showed a regretful expression and sighed, "I don't have Lord Hashirama's talent, and my Schrift's ability is quite ordinary. It merely doubles my Reiatsu, that's all."

Jugram nodded, "Indeed. That ability is rather commonplace."

"?" Akira, listening from the side, slowly expressed a question mark.

Are you two even hearing yourselves?

Double the Reiatsu — do you believe Sōsuke, that rebellious son, could bring down the Soul King Palace with Reiatsu?!

"But don't be discouraged." Jugram consoled him, "The stronger you become, the more powerful this Schrift's ability will become. Train hard. Perhaps there will be a place for you in the Schutzstaffel in the future."

At this, Aizen's eyes lit up. His lips curled into a smile as he placed his right hand respectfully before him.

"Thank you, Lord Haschwalth. I will dedicate all my strength to the Empire's prosperity."

Jugram nodded with satisfaction.

The people Hashirama recruits might not be strong enough, but their loyalty is truly precious. Even superficial effort is far better than those rebels who constantly talk of revolt.

Ah, Bazz-B, you should learn from this.

That night, under dark skies.

Inside the Quincy Research and Development Institute.

A furtive figure moved carefully through the corridors, using the shadows for cover.

A hazy mist surrounded Askin, helping him evade the surveillance systems mounted on the ceiling and embedded in the walls.

During his time at Q.R.D.I., he had used his Schrift's ability to analyze environmental variables and memorize all surveillance locations.

His mission was to uncover all of Hashirama's secrets.

His experience at the Fourth Tower had revealed Hashirama's true ambitions — not merely some minor scheme, but a malicious plot capable of overthrowing the Empire and affecting other worlds.

When he tried to seek help, he realized that in the vast Empire, he alone had seen through Hashirama's façade. The weight of this knowledge left him feeling isolated against the world.

Desperate for evidence, he took the ultimate risk — sneaking into the Research and Development Institute during its quietest hours.

Moving stealthily past security measures, Askin made his way to the deepest Archive Room.

Using skills acquired during his tenure, he began examining restricted core materials.

The initial documents were unremarkable — spirit art improvements, Shadow Area modifications, new techniques, Soul Society maps...

Then his eyes caught a file marked with "V", making his heart race.

"Could it be..." He opened it with trembling hands, scanning its contents.

As he read further, his expression grew darker, horror mounting with each page. The contents were beyond forbidden.

Not only did it repeatedly name Yhwach, but it listed him as a potential enemy. Even Jugram Haschwalth appeared in the calculations.

Determined to expose the truth, he attempted to memorize everything, planning to reveal Hashirama's true nature to the Wandenreich's Quincy.

But in his concentration, he failed to notice the shadows writhing beneath his feet. By the time he spotted them, they had already spread across the floor.

Before he could activate his ability, crushing pressure descended, and his world went black.

Bad, I'm done for!

When consciousness returned after intense vertigo, the scene had transformed.

Askin's eyes opened to a lush tropical rainforest. Trees stretched endlessly skyward, their branches interwoven with thick vines.

The air hummed with an impossibly dense concentration of Reishi — a paradise for Quincy who drew power from external Reishi.

Seeing no one around, he immediately prepared to flee. As he passed through the forest, a massive city rivaling the Wandenreich appeared before him.

"Kekeke, little Askin, you've finally arrived!"

A familiar laugh echoed from the direction of the city, making Askin's heart clench.

Before he could escape, a figure descended from the sky, landing before him with crossed arms.

"Welcome to… Hueco Mundo!" Akira looked down at him, speaking words that made his heart stop.

"This is Hueco Mundo?!" Askin's eyes widened in disbelief.

Hueco Mundo had been nothing but an endless wasteland of white sand until recently.

How long had it been — a few months? Perhaps even less?

He wanted to believe this was merely deception from the man before him rather than accept this could be Hueco Mundo.

But when several white figures emanating violent, chaotic Reiatsu lined up in two rows behind Akira, Askin had no choice but to believe.

He recognized familiar faces among them. The Conquer Unit had engaged in "evenly matched" fierce battles with them periodically. Both sides had grown acquainted through combat.

Now he understood why casualties had always remained within certain limits — from beginning to end, Hashirama had controlled the war's outcome.

"Hmhm, I know what you're thinking." Akira wore an all-knowing expression and smiled, "You've guessed correctly. As one possessing world-shocking wisdom, everything is within my calculations!"

Askin: "..."

Seeing that familiar expression, he relaxed slightly. This matter must have another mastermind behind it.

"Lord Hashirama." Askin sighed helplessly, "I'm curious — what is your ultimate goal in all this? Do you plan to overthrow the Empire and completely exterminate us Quincy?"

Hearing this, Akira came to his side, his face showing bitter disappointment.

"Such narrow-mindedness! Askin, I thought after learning by my side for so long, even if you couldn't master my foresight, you would have absorbed some wisdom. But you're still so foolish."

Askin remained silent.

He wanted to say that since joining the Research and Development Institute, not only had he failed to become smarter, but his thinking had grown increasingly poor.

Before, he never would have sneaked in alone at night. Falling for such an obvious trap — his mind had been assimilated by someone.

"Simply inconceivable!" Akira said in disappointment, "Use your brain! What has Yhwach done as Emperor of the Wandenreich? For his own selfish desires, he started a war with the Soul Society's Shinigami, nearly causing the extinction of the Quincy. Even though he couldn't defeat Yamamoto, he still pushed forward, getting cut down until he lost his senses, sleeping for hundreds of years.

Before sleeping, he didn't forget to leave behind some nonsense Emperor Song, just to make you fools hold the line for centuries. If it weren't for Jugram maintaining things, the Wandenreich would have collapsed long ago.

Tell me, what about such a person deserves your loyalty?"

Askin remained silent in response.

Though he might disagree with the approach, he couldn't deny the truth in these words.

In terms of contributions, Emperor Yhwach wasn't worth even a fraction of what Jugram had achieved. The Quincy's loyalty stemmed purely from his overwhelming military might and iron-fisted control.

"Now look at me." Akira spread his hands, "Setting aside everything else, since I came to the Wandenreich, haven't you seen more smiles on the soldiers' faces? Isn't a people living in happiness stronger than those living in fear? Even if I'm not as capable as Jugo, I'm still doing better than Yhwach, wouldn't you say?"

Askin remained silent, but his expression softened.

Truth be told, since Hashirama had joined the empire, he'd witnessed unprecedented change. It was as if stagnant waters had been stirred by a fresh spring breeze.

Akira's expression grew earnest as he declared, "Compared to Yhwach, I'm the one who truly stands with you."

Askin considered this carefully.

The prospect of life after the emperor's replacement suddenly seemed promising. Perhaps the Quincy would no longer be confined to the Schatten Bereich, but could freely walk in the outside world.

From that perspective, it didn't seem so terrible.

"I understand." Askin sighed, momentarily yielding, "But before I surrender, tell me your true identity."

Akira grinned, "Of course, of course. Current Captain of the 11th Division, future Captain-Commander, future Emperor of the Empire, God-King of Hueco Mundo... I am Akira Kisaragi!"

Askin's pupils dilated, and instinctively, he unleashed his Reiatsu. A massive pillar of light shot skyward, forming a magnificent Quincy cross at its peak.

A massive purple orb, large enough to engulf a town, descended from the sky with a thunderous roar, leveling everything in sight.

The landscape turned deep purple, the air saturated with lethal concentrations.

"Old Bonejangles, he's yours."

To Askin's bewilderment, Akira stepped aside instead of attacking, yielding to a white-haired elder.

"What a nuisance — I had such trouble getting these drafts from Captain Kyōraku." Baraggan rolled his shoulders with audible cracks, his wise eyes fixed on the confused Askin, "Kid, I hear you can analyze your opponent's Reiatsu and develop immunity? I have a power here that I'd like you to evaluate."

"Rot..."

Black mist erupted forth, and through the corrosion emerged a colossal skeleton, its hollow eye sockets gleaming with purple-black Reiatsu.

The black mist transformed into an all-consuming wave, engulfing the poison domain.

When Askin attempted to analyze the black mist with his Schrift, he was horrified to discover he couldn't establish any immunity — the attack was completely unstoppable.

Without hesitation, he turned to flee.

But before he could activate Hirenkyaku, black mist had already blocked his path. Above and below, impenetrable darkness surrounded him.

Faced with this inescapable situation, Askin made his choice swiftly, raising both hands and declaring calmly:

"I surrender!"

Under the crescent moon, in the quiet forest, two figures walked westward, one in front of the other.

"Askin Nakk Le Vaar. I feel like you're hiding something from me." The dark-skinned man wearing a horned hat questioned sternly, "We've been walking for hours. Where exactly is this lead you mentioned?"

Askin turned back helplessly, making excuses, "We're almost there, it's not far ahead."

"You said that an hour ago." Lille's right eye widened as he stared intently at Askin, his gaze vigilant.

If there was any suspicious movement, he would pierce his head instantly!

"This time it's true." Sensing familiar Reiatsu arriving, Askin breathed a sigh of relief, silently gathering Reishi under his feet.

Before Lille could react, the figure before him vanished.

The next moment, violent Reiatsu crashed down like falling heavens. Maniacal laughter echoed through the forest as trees and undergrowth bent away.

"Kehehehe, long time no see!"

Under Lille's shocked gaze, a figure both strange yet familiar descended from the sky, landing with a boom that created a massive crater in the ground.

"You are... Hashirama Senju?!"

Watching the two face off, Askin breathed a sigh of relief.

Though there had been some twists and turns, everything had worked out safely in the end.

Using Lille Barro's relationship with Gerard Valkyrie to lure him to Hueco Mundo — the plan was simple but effective.

Lord Aizen, who proposed the plan, was indeed much smarter than Akira, laying bare all the weaknesses of human nature in just a few words.

However, with this proof of loyalty submitted, there was no turning back. If that brainless guy were to fail, death would be Askin's fate as well.

While Askin was lost in thought, the battle between the two had already begun.

Unlike other Quincy, Lille's loyalty to Yhwach was absolute — there was no way to turn him. When dealing with such a stubborn element, the best solution was elimination.

He raised his black sniper rifle and pulled the trigger without even looking.

The bullet, transformed from a Heilig Pfeil, burst forth from the barrel, instantly piercing everything in its path.

Bang!

A muffled sound rang out in Akira's palm as wisps of gunsmoke rose and a sneer slowly spread across his face.

He looked at the dumbfounded Lille before him and offered his assessment:

"Is that all?"
