Onboard his ship, Ebony Maw was heading straight for Nebula's coordinates when he suddenly noticed the signal flickering wildly before shifting in a completely different direction.
Ebony Maw sneered to himself. Could it be that Nebula was trying to escape in another direction, knowing that he was coming to capture her and deliver the Infinity Stone to Lord Thanos?
"Traitor... daring to betray Lord Thanos — she must know exactly what fate awaits her once she's caught!"
Ebony Maw's pale skin, almost ghostly white, looked even more sinister under the dim cabin lights.
"And Emperor is probably with you too, isn't he? Perfect. I'll bring him back to Lord Thanos as well. We'll transform him into the strongest assassin in the galaxy, a loyal weapon for Lord Thanos!"
Ebony Maw was absolutely confident that his powers would be enough to manipulate Emperor into willingly following him to Titan — especially after learning what kind of reputation Emperor had built on Earth.
Only after setting foot on Earth did Ebony Maw realize just how famous Emperor was there. Not only was he a known figure across the galaxy, but on Earth, his legend ran even deeper.
If Emperor betrayed Earth's so-called superheroes and pledged allegiance to Lord Thanos, then those foolish Earthlings would finally understand who the true ruler of the universe was.
"Hard to port! Head left! Do you see that flashing coordinate? Set a course straight for it."
Ebony Maw had completely forgotten about Black Dwarf. For all he knew, Black Dwarf had already been sent back after failing at Asgard — not a single sign of a battle had been found there.
Compared to worrying about Black Dwarf, Ebony Maw was far more interested in capturing Nebula and Gamora. How dare those two betray Lord Thanos!
The tracker inside Nebula had always given off a weak, intermittent signal — but now, for some reason, it was transmitting crystal clear coordinates.
That could only mean one thing: she was definitely with Emperor. This was the perfect chance to capture all of them in one go!
Dragging the entire Guardians crew before Lord Thanos — Ebony Maw could already imagine how pleased Thanos would be.
The ship turned sharply, heading directly for the coordinates. As they drew closer and closer, Ebony Maw's excitement grew uncontrollable.
In his mind, he could already picture Emperor and the others willingly submitting to his powers, their hands bound, ready to be paraded back to Titan like trophies.
Beep! Beep!
The signal grew stronger and stronger. The Chitauri helmsman stared at the screen, his expression filled with confusion.
The tracker indicated they had arrived at the exact coordinates — but all they saw before them was a vast, empty stretch of grayish space. Not a single trace of another ship in sight.
Not even a shadow of a person. Nothing at all.
Ebony Maw stood at the window, eyes practically glued to the glass, staring intently into space. No ships. No signs of life. Nothing.
"Lord Ebony Maw… could the tracker be malfunctioning?" The Chitauri helmsman hesitated, eyes darting between the screen and the empty void outside.
They were hovering directly over the designated coordinates, yet there was absolutely nothing here.
"Impossible!" Ebony Maw's brows furrowed, his face darkening as he slapped the tracker again and again — but the coordinates didn't change.
Slowly, confusion in his eyes twisted into murderous rage, making his already terrifying face even more horrifying.
"Damn it! We've been tricked! That wretched Nebula played us!"
"What should we do now?"
"Report back to Lord Thanos immediately. The plan has failed once again — and who knows what the hell Black Dwarf is even doing!" Ebony Maw's fury boiled over, his whole presence cloaked in dark, sinister energy.
First, they lost contact with Black Dwarf. Then, Emperor and his team outplayed them at every turn. In Ebony Maw's mind, there was no doubt — this was all Emperor's doing.
