Chapter 378 - Chapter 378: Repayment with Life

  "The Hanging Ghost is here!"

Old Man Zhu instantly turned pale, pointing at the slowly swaying ceiling fan with a trembling hand.

  "Sir, don't panic!"

Hu Zi immediately drew his ghost-head saber and positioned himself in front of Old Zhu, his eyes warily fixed on the swaying ceiling fan.

  Creak— creak—

The rusty ceiling fan swung slowly from side to side.

In the small dormitory, the light flickered with the motion.

Old Zhu's heart was taut with tension at that moment, yet he hoped the hanging ghost would appear quickly and reveal the whereabouts of his son.

He was completely unaware that a rope had silently dropped down behind him, forming a noose, aimed at his head.

  "Woof!"

At that moment, a dog barked.

Hu Zi reacted swiftly, turned around instantly, and saw the noose behind Old Zhu. Shocked, he swung his saber forcefully at the rope.

The rope suddenly contracted and vanished in an instant.

  "Sir, are you alright?"

  "No, I'm fine...you, behind you..."

Old Man Zhu, drenched in cold sweat, suddenly saw the hanging rope appear behind Husi and shouted in a trembling voice.

Husi swung his knife backward, protecting his head.

The hanging rope dodged the ghosthead knife, and as soon as Husi turned, it went to attack Old Man Zhu again.

But before it could get close to Old Man Zhu.

A yellow talisman flew in from outside the door.

Immediately after, Lu Fei and the other three rushed into the dormitory, one after another.

Everyone crowded through the door, brandishing their magical instruments, each displaying their unique powers.

The light of talismans, electric lights, and stars flickered.

Old Man Zhu only felt dazzled.

The hanging rope, powerless to resist, retreated into the darkness in panic.

"Quick, find it! Don't let it get away!"

Several pairs of bright eyes searched everywhere in the small dormitory.

The space was too cramped; six people and a dog barely fit inside, limiting everyone's movements.

  "Woof!"

Little Black barked toward the door.

  "It's trying to escape!"

  Lu Fei immediately rushed over.

But the dormitory door slammed shut with a loud bang.

Immediately after, the ceiling fan suddenly started spinning at an extremely high speed, and its blades came off with a whoosh, hurtling towards the people in the room.

  "Watch out!"

  Everyone's face changed color.

A ceiling fan spinning at such a high speed might even be able to cut off a person's head.

  "All of you, get down!"

Tie Shenglan shouted, swinging her double maces at the ceiling fan with all her might.

  There was a clang.

The ceiling fan was knocked away, and Tie Shenglan was also forced back several steps. The fan hit the wall at an angle, scraping deep grooves into the wall, and then fell to the ground with a crash.

Several shallow dents were left on the double maces, and Tie Shenglan's face showed clear distress.

"Hurry up, don't let that hanged ghost get away!"

  Hu Zi撞开大门.

Outside, there seemed to be a woman with disheveled hair who flashed by in an instant.

"Brother Mo Lin, you stay here and protect Uncle Zhu! The rest of you, hurry and chase after her!" Lu Fei shouted, already taking the lead in the pursuit.

But that woman's figure vanished in the blink of an eye into the night.

"A hanged ghost is similar to an earth-bound spirit and should not be able to leave the factory. Split up and chase!"

Lu Fei nodded to Jing Jian and Tie Shenglan.

Everyone split into two groups, left and right, and began searching all around the factory.

The small black dog moved its black nose, and after a bit of sniffing, it seemed to have found something.

  "Woof!"

Wagging its tail at Lu Fei, it dashed towards a house.

  "Huzi, hurry up!"

Lu Fei and Huzi followed closely behind.

This should be a warehouse, the gate is locked.

  "Woof!"

The small black dog barked at the door.

"It ran inside?" Lu Fei hesitated for a moment before having Huzi unlock it.

The two of them went in with flashlights.

Inside the warehouse, there were stacks of cloth and various spools of thread, with the hanging rope mixed among them, making it very difficult to distinguish with the naked eye.

  However.

Who told Lu Fei that he had a black dog with a keen sense of smell?

The little black dog sniffed its way and stopped under a shelf, seemingly having discovered something.

Lu Fei immediately made a gesture to Hu Zi.

Hu Zi understood the signal and, wielding his ghost-headed saber, moved to the other side of the shelf.

Lu Fei shone his flashlight on the shelf.

Amidst the messy bolts of cloth, there seemed to be a rope entangled within. He pretended not to see it and swept the light to other positions.

In reality, the Ghost Character was discreetly tossed over.

  "Ah!"

A sorrowful woman's scream was heard, and the hanging rope quickly retracted but then encountered Hu Zi's large ghost-headed saber.

"Where do you think you're going!"

Hu Zizi slashed with his knife.

The hanging rope immediately flew upwards. Afraid that it would escape again, Hu Zizi pushed off the ground with both feet, leaping forcefully and grabbing the hanging rope with his hands.

The rope swayed left and right, and upon realizing it couldn't shake Hu Zizi off, it viciously dragged him towards the sharp corner of a shelf.

  "Hu Zizi, let go!"

Lu Feilei swung the lightning bolt wood stick at the hanging rope with all his might.

A flash of light shot out.

  At the same time.

  Hu Zizi quickly let go.

  Boom!

Hu Zizi rolled on the ground as he landed and nimbly got back up.

  Right after that.

The hanging rope also fell down softly, the edges of the rope blackened and twitched slightly.

Lu Fei stepped forward briskly and pinned it down with his foot.

"Finally got it, this thing is quite cunning!" Hu Zi let out a breath, showing a relieved expression.

Lu Fei placed a ghost-repelling talisman on the rope and picked it up.

However, as he lifted the rope, a few white hairs slowly fell to the ground.

  "Hmm?"

Lu Fei squatted down, looking at the white hairs on the ground with a puzzled expression.

"Why are there white hairs again?"

  He looked around.

The little black dog was very quiet, indicating that there was nothing unusual around.

What's with this white hair? Could it be that the hanged ghost was a woman with white hair when she was alive?

Lu Fei furrowed his brows and asked Hu Zi to pick up the white hair and wrap it in tissue.

"Boss, what's wrong with this hair?"

"I don't know yet. I just feel something is off. Let's keep it for now, just in case it might be useful."

The most pressing matter at hand was to find Old Zhu's two sons. Lu Fei and the others took the hanging rope back to the dormitory.

"Lu Fei, how did it go?"

Zhang Molian and Old Zhu were both extremely anxious.

"We got it!" Lu Fei waved the hanging rope in his hand.

Old Zhu's eyes widened in shock. Could the hanged ghost really be caught? Despite their youth, they truly had some skills!

"I knew you guys would be fine!" Zhang Molin immediately felt relieved and informed Tie Shenglan and Jing Jian.

Everyone gathered again in the small dormitory.

The hanging rope with the ghost-repelling character was placed on the table.

Several pairs of eyes stared fixedly at it, as if the rope was trembling in fear.

Old Man Zhu was both fearful and nervous.

  "My Dazhu and Xiaozhu..."

"Don't worry, sir. We will ask them right away."

Lu Fei had Hu Zi take a handful of incense ash and sprinkle it next to the hanging rope.

"Confess honestly, where are Old Man Zhu's two sons?"

After a few seconds of waiting, the hanging rope showed no movement.

"Oh, not saying, huh! Do you believe I'll give you a taste of your own medicine?" Tieshenglan was furious, and immediately raised her double maces which had dents from the ceiling fan.

The noose twitched a few times.

Then, two characters appeared crookedly on the incense ash.

  Repay with life!

"Ah?" Upon seeing these two characters, Old Zhu's body went weak, and he almost fell over.

Zhang Molin supported him in time.

"They were killed by you?" Lu Fei frowned, this was different from what the divination showed.

The electric light started to flicker, and the incense ash seemed to go wild, continuously repeating those two characters.

  Repay with life!

  Repay with life!

  Pay with your life!
