"Lu Fei, what are you doing?"
Lu Fei's counterintuitive action stunned everyone.
As the monster spewed out Yin Fire everywhere, he not only did not run away but rushed towards it instead.
"Is he crazy?"
Tie Shenglan dodged the Yin Fire, her eyes wide with shock.
This Yin Fire is no ordinary flame; once it touches a living being, it instantly penetrates and burns the body from the inside out.
All the internal organs would be damaged!
Otherwise, why would they be in such a sorry state?
The ghosts in the building are troublesome precisely because of this, and this massive creature's fire is especially powerful. Otherwise, Tie Shenglan would have charged forward and chopped that ugly insect to pieces long ago.
"Lu Fei, do you have an idea?"
None of them understood, but Jing Jian gritted his teeth and quickened his pace to catch up with Lu Fei.
"Lu Fei, tell us, what should we do?"
"What else can we do, find the ghost's main body!"
Lu Fei glanced at him, pulling him out of the way of a ball of flames, and threw a few ghost-repelling characters at the monster ahead, blocking its attack and looking for a chance to get close.
The main body is usually by the side of the ghost, or like a candle or a cigarette, it's on the ghost itself.
To find it, one must take the risk of getting close.
The ghost-repelling characters blew off a few of the ghost's heads, and while its new heads were emerging, Lu Fei circled around it at top speed.
"Not there! Next one!"
After observing, he didn't stop, rushing off to find the next one.
The huge monster, like a centipede, broke into three segments, each one still large enough to resemble a spider with many legs.
A scorching breath swept in from behind.
"Dodge quickly!"
As Lu Fei shouted, he and Jing Jian instinctively split to the left and right; the flames shot through the space between them, searing their shoulders with pain.
The spider-like ghost followed closely, moving much faster than when it was in its giant centipede form.
Lu Fei threw out three ghost-repelling characters behind him without slowing down, running over the uneven ground toward the next one.
"Give me the ghost-repelling characters, I'll cover you!"
Jing Jian, seeing the ghost closing in quickly, grew anxious.
"Alright!"
Lu Fei stuffed a stack of ghost-repelling characters into his hand.
What's there to be polite about at this moment?
"Leave the rear to you!"
Then, he ran forward without looking back.
"Don't worry!"
Entrusted with a great responsibility, Jing Jian immediately felt a blazing flame in his heart, his eyes shining, his body full of courage and energy.
"I'd rather die than let you get any closer!"
He gritted his teeth, following by Lu Fei's side.
Whenever any ghostly creatures approached, he would immediately throw out the ghost-repelling characters.
Lu Fei finally found an opportunity to get close to the second one. After observing it for a while, his brows furrowed.
"It's not here either! Just one more left!"
"Brother Jing, hold on!"
He took a deep breath and went to search for the last ghost.
Now, two ghosts were chasing after them.
"No problem!"
Jing Jian was in a panic, clenching his back teeth so hard they almost shattered, doing his best to hold on.
The black plastic bag originally tied around his waist had melted from the scorching air, revealing the red shorts again.
"What on earth are they doing?"
Since they attracted most of the attacks, the others felt much less pressure.
Tie Shenglan's eyes were filled with disbelief.
"Manager Lu must have discovered something and is looking for a way to kill these ghosts!" Dulan, drenched in sweat, finally had a chance to catch his breath and said, panting heavily.
"How did you know?" Tieshenglan looked at him in confusion.
"I, I have worked with Manager Lu before... The ghosts in Jiang City's haunted building were the ones we exorcised together. Manager Lu has an extraordinary mind; he was the one who found the key and came up with the solution back then..."
"Oh? Is he that impressive?"
Tieshenglan was half-believing and half-doubting, but after a moment's thought, he gripped his twin maces and ran toward Lu Fei and the others.
"Anyway, there's no better way. Let's give it a try."
"I'll help too!" Zhang Molin followed right after.
Seeing that everyone else was going to provide support, Kudeng quickly moved his plump body to catch up.
Tianyuan, however, took the opportunity to hide.
The main group arrived.
Zhang Molin led the way by throwing out two water spirit talismans, extinguishing the flames that were spewing towards Lu Fei and the others.
"Everyone, why are you all here!"
Jing Jian was surprised and delighted.
"The fat monk said that person has brains and can find a way to kill this disgusting bug! I hope he doesn't let us down!" Iron Shenglan inadvertently caught sight of Jing Jian's red underpants and immediately gave him a strange look.
"Are you being abstract..."
"Don't mind the details!" Jing Jian's face turned red with embarrassment, hastily changing the subject, "Lu Fei won't let you down, anyway, I trust him!"
"I hope so!"
Iron Shenglan said no more.
Everyone worked together to cover for Lu Fei, and they managed to reach the third ghost smoothly.
Zhang Molin first threw out a water spirit talisman, extinguishing the flames.
Iron Shenglan took the opportunity to go up and cut off several ghost heads.
Jing Jian then threw out the 'ghost' character.
After a series of intense actions, it actually rendered this terrifying ghost immobile for a moment.
Lu Fei quickly observed this ghost.
"Still not here!"
"What?" Jing Jian was shocked, "This ghost has no physical form?"
"It's not that it has no physical form, but rather that it is not on its body," Lu Fei narrowed his eyes and looked through the chaotic smoke towards the stairs, "This ghost climbed down from upstairs, perhaps its physical form is up there."
"We need to go upstairs?"
Everyone looked at each other in dismay.
The upstairs was where the fire had occurred; wouldn't it be even more dangerous?
"Hey, can you really handle this?" Tie Shenglan frowned as she looked at Lu Fei.
"You'll know after going upstairs." Lu Fei said calmly, "I was just observing these ghosts to confirm my guess. The essence of the ghosts is related to the things that caused their deaths."
"These ghosts were burned to death upstairs, so if their essences are not on them, they should be upstairs."
"Of course, this is just my guess! I won't force everyone to take this risk with me. The exit is over there; you can choose for yourselves."
Lu Fei finished speaking quickly and then rushed towards the stairs with Jing Jian.
"Manager Lu, I trust you, wait for me!" Ku Deng hesitated for a moment before hurrying to catch up.
As soon as they moved, the three ghosts immediately pursued them.
Tie Shenglan and Zhang Molin exchanged a glance.
"Miss Shenglan, Fellow Daoist Lu Fei's analysis makes a lot of sense. Besides, did you notice? It's more effective and safer to deal with the ghosts together."
"Of course, staying here would be very dangerous! You're just a girl..." Zhang Molin said sincerely.
"What about being a girl, are we naturally worse than you men?" Tie Shenglan snorted coldly, flipped her ponytail, and with her long legs, she stepped past the flames and chased after Lu Fei and the others.
"That's not what I meant."
Zhang Molin was taken aback and quickly caught up.
The group gathered again, pressing the three spirits to the back.
"Thank you all for your trust!"
Lu Fei nodded heavily at everyone and then rushed straight for the fourth floor.
Jing Jian, like a bodyguard, followed him closely.
The others did their best to block the three spirits from getting any closer.
