Following in Javier's footsteps, Leon and Krauser also made their way to the dam. When they saw the boat parked on the shore, they stopped nearby.
"There are some of them here. I don't know what they're doing. I hope they don't come into conflict with us," Krauser said after observing the footprints on the ground.
"They're also heading to Hidalgo's base camp. It seems they have the same goal as we do," Leon replied, and the two followed suit, entering the dam.
After Javier and the others defeated Hidalgo's men, they took the elevator and arrived at the dam. They stood there, looking out at the landscape below. If a biological crisis hadn't broken out here, it would have been a truly beautiful place.
Everyone rested at the dam. At that moment, the virus in Manuela's body began to get out of control, and her arms were the first to show signs of mutation.
Javier took the neutralizing serum from Alexia and said, "Believe me, you'll get better." Manuela nodded.
After Javier injected her with the serum, Manuela's arm slowly returned to normal. The medicine could only temporarily neutralize the T-Veronica virus.
Just as Javier and the others were preparing to leave, the elevator doors opened and Leon and Krauser walked out. As soon as the two groups met, both sides raised their weapons.
"Don't shoot! Hey, Leon, it's been a long time!" Javier stopped his men and stepped forward. Leon was also surprised when he saw Javier step forward.
"Javier, what are you doing here?" Leon asked as he approached. Seeing that Leon recognized him, Krauser also lowered his weapon.
"I joined an unofficial organization to prevent biological threats. I'm here investigating Hidalgo," Javier lied.
Leon was from the government. Even though they were friends, Javier didn't want to reveal his true identity. Besides, the company was now owned by Katherine, and no one knew he was the real boss.
Leon shared the details of his mission and introduced Krauser to Javier. Javier was no stranger to him—Krauser was still a loyal soldier.
After seeing the power of the virus firsthand, Krauser began to question his own strength and considered using the virus to enhance it.
For now, the two sides shared the same purpose. Leon decided to join Javier, and Javier agreed easily, then looked toward Manuela.
Upon learning that Manuela was Hidalgo's daughter, Leon was shocked. Shortly after, once he understood all that Hidalgo had done, Leon decided to bring him to justice.
The group continued along the road by the dam, and after half an hour, they finally arrived at a massive military camp. Using binoculars, they could see tents and military vehicles scattered throughout the forest.
However, the entire camp—and the nearby town—was deserted. It felt eerie. "Looks like we scared off the guards," Krauser joked.
"Let's go take a look," Javier said as he descended, with the rest following. When they arrived at the camp, there truly wasn't a soul in sight.
"Welcome, Manuela. And to my new guests—thank you for returning my daughter. Please accept my gratitude. Now bring her back to me—and kill them all," Hidalgo's voice said over the radio.
As soon as he finished speaking, a large number of zombies appeared. These were Hidalgo's soldiers. He had actually turned all of his men into the undead.
Everyone began moving forward while shooting. "Is this Hidalgo's zombie army? What the hell did this guy do?"
At that moment, the military camp was overrun with zombie soldiers, and biochemical weapons began to emerge from the military vehicles. It looked like Hidalgo had bought an entire arsenal of bioweapons.
"We can get to my house through the bunker," said Manuela. Upon hearing this, everyone rushed toward the bunker.
Once inside, they shut the door behind them, locking out the zombies. Loud banging echoed through the door, but fortunately, the undead couldn't get in.
The bunker was pitch dark. Everyone had to switch on their tactical flashlights to proceed. The soldiers inside had also turned into zombies, but they were far fewer than those outside.
After walking for a long time, they finally reached the bunker's exit. They opened the door and stepped into a garden beside the house.
Several corpses lay on the ground. "Who are these people?" Leon asked.
"They were my doctors… It's all my fault. I begged them to help me find a cure," Manuela replied.
"So where did Hidalgo go? Looks like he's not here," Krauser said.
"There's one place my father never let me go," said Manuela.
Following her lead, they arrived at a house overgrown with plants. "This is a greenhouse," Javier observed.
"I think it looks more like a botanical garden," Krauser complained.
Just then, a plant-like monster leapt out and blocked their path. Everyone opened fire, turning it into a mess of pulp.
"Feels like I'm back on the battlefield," Krauser said with excitement.
"Come with me," Manuela urged, continuing onward. They ascended a staircase that led to the top of the greenhouse. In the center stood a massive plant.
The enormous flower buds looked bizarre—none of them had ever seen anything like it. It appeared to be a mutated plant.
They carefully climbed past the huge vines and made it to the other side of the greenhouse. There, at the bottom of a staircase, was a door.
Beyond it was a hallway. At the far end, they found an elevator. They all stepped in and descended, arriving at another corridor.
"What kind of place is this?" Leon asked, glancing around.
"I'm pretty sure it's not a guest room," Javier joked.
They moved past shelves and various obstacles in the corridor until they came across a room covered in white sheets. When they stepped inside and pulled back the covers, they discovered human organs everywhere.
In another room, they found the dead bodies of young girls. All the girls were missing something.
