"Three people now. Is this place a marketplace?"
Nino glanced subtly at Miku, who was hiding behind another curtain not far away.
Perhaps due to the darkness of the room, Miku hadn't noticed Nino beside her. Her full attention was on the person who had just come downstairs.
That person walked up to the sofa, looking at the running air conditioner and feeling the cool breeze blowing from it. Instantly, they let out a relieved sigh.
"That scared me... I thought I had turned off the AC..."
Their tone carried a sense of relief, as if they had just escaped a disaster.
Both Miku and Nino, hiding behind the curtains, were momentarily stunned upon hearing this voice.
"Yotsuba?"
Yes, the one standing next to Hakuto was none other than Yotsuba.
With her extraordinary dullness, she had finally realized—an hour later—that she had turned off the air conditioner.
The realization had jolted her awake from her sleep, prompting her to rush downstairs to check on Hakuto.
"The AC was turned off by Yotsuba?!"
Nino sometimes really felt the urge to call the police!
Meanwhile, Yotsuba, still in the aftershock of realizing her mistake, quickly snapped back to reality.
After all, she didn't want to wake up in the morning just to get pinned down by Hakuto in retaliation.
Not that Hakuto would actually do that...
"Huh? Why is Shiratori-sensei sweating so much?"
Now fully aware, Yotsuba, like the other two, used her phone's dim screen light to check on Hakuto's condition.
But she didn't understand why he was sweating so much.
"Huh? Why are there two blankets?"
Seeing the two neatly folded blankets at Hakuto's feet, Yotsuba was momentarily puzzled.
After all, she distinctly remembered giving him only one, yet now there were two...
"Geez, in this summer heat, someone gave Shiratori-sensei two blankets..."
Hearing Yotsuba's words, Nino, hiding behind the curtain, nearly lost it!
What?! How was she playing the victim here? And with such confidence, too!
Nino's whole body trembled. She wanted nothing more than to rush out and teach her sister a lesson.
Miku felt the same way, immediately blaming Nino for Hakuto sweating so much.
If Nino knew about this, she'd probably break down and shout, "I was here first!"
Just then, Yotsuba—completely unaware—suddenly realized something.
Why were the two blankets folded so neatly at his feet?
"Shiratori-sensei... Shiratori-sensei?"
Yotsuba leaned in and called out softly near his ear, then poked his face with her finger.
"He's not waking up..."
She had assumed Hakuto had woken up from the heat and folded the blankets himself.
But now, it seemed that wasn't the case. After thinking it over, Yotsuba came to a conclusion.
"Wow! As expected of Shiratori-sensei! Even while sleepwalking, he can still neatly fold his blankets!"
Miku & Nino behind the curtain: ...Huh?
Nino sometimes seriously wondered what kind of spell Hakuto had cast on her sister to make her admire him so much.
Since bright light might wake a sleeping person, none of them had turned on the room lights or their phone flashlights, using only the faint glow from their screens.
"Sweet dreams, Shiratori-sensei. I'm going back to sleep now..."
Yotsuba whispered in his ear, since she had only come downstairs to check whether the air conditioner was on.
Now that her mission was complete, it was time to go back to bed.
But just as she was about to leave, she noticed something—the temperature of the air conditioner seemed a bit too low.
Even standing here in her pajamas, she was shivering.
"16 degrees? Did I really set it to 16 degrees...?"
Looking at the AC display, Yotsuba hugged herself and started searching for the remote on the coffee table.
"Huh? I swear I left it here..."
She rummaged around, even nearly flipping Hakuto over in her search, but still couldn't find it.
"(●—●)? Did I lose the AC remote?"
Nino, hiding behind the curtain, froze as she watched Yotsuba searching and muttering to herself.
Because she suddenly realized—she was holding something in both hands.
If one hand was holding her phone... then the other...
Acting as naturally as possible, Nino reached out and felt the object in her other hand.
Just as she suspected—it was the very air conditioner remote Yotsuba was desperately looking for!
Nino raised an eyebrow in disbelief. She couldn't believe such a cliché scenario was happening to her.
Now, she could only pray that Yotsuba would give up searching or go bother Miku instead.
Meanwhile, Miku still hadn't realized that Nino was hiding right next to her.
All she wanted was for Yotsuba to leave as soon as possible.
"Huh? Where's the remote?"
Yotsuba turned up her phone's brightness and began crawling on the floor, slowly searching for the missing remote.
At that moment, both Nino and Miku tensed up!
Because Yotsuba was crawling straight toward them!
Practically pressing her face against the floor, Yotsuba was determined not to miss a single inch of space.
She reached the window, preparing to lift the curtain slightly and check if the remote was behind it.
Seeing Yotsuba getting closer, Nino frowned.
Just as Yotsuba was about to lift the curtain and have a fateful night time encounter with her, Nino shook her head, tightened her grip on the remote, and—without thinking twice—flung it away.
"Hmm? What was that noise?"
Still crawling on the floor, Yotsuba didn't notice Nino's action. She only heard a dull thud.
But Miku saw it clearly.
She couldn't make out exactly what Nino had done, but she definitely saw someone behind the curtain.
"What was that sound just now?"
