Meanwhile, Evan remained oblivious to the fact that Gardevoir and Gallade had already mapped out his path.
He didn't give Sophia a definitive answer to her suggestion, deciding instead to leave it up to the circumstances.
Whether he participated or not was still uncertain.
After lunch, Evan returned to his workshop.
Mr. Mime and Gardevoir took care of cleaning up the dishes.
Sophia stayed a little while longer before heading out, leaving Munchlax with Evan.
She had her own tasks to attend to after just returning from abroad.
Busy days were ahead, so she didn't linger.
Evan prepared enough energy cubes to feed Munchlax for an extended period.
He then went out to commission some decorative items.
Evan created decorative Mega Stone holders for his Pokémon. The Mega Stone for Pidgeot was securely attached to its legs, ensuring that it wouldn't hinder its movement. Similarly, Gardevoir and Gallade received necklaces designed to hold their stones. For Charizard, the Mega Stone was fashioned into an arm badge, to be used when Charmeleon evolved.
After completing these items, Evan returned home and distributed them to his Pokémon. Pidgeot and Gardevoir quickly received their accessories, but the Mega Stone for Charizard remained with Evan until Charmeleon's evolution. Evan reflected on the potential of Mega Charizard, particularly the advantages of Charizard X.
Pidgeot examined the Mega Stone adorning its legs and enthusiastically nudged Evan to initiate Mega Evolution. Evan agreed, focusing his Psychic energy into the Key Stone in his hand. The golden light from the Key Stone connected with Pidgeot's Mega Stone, triggering a brilliant transformation. Pidgeot's wings became broader, its head feathers extended into a striking, colorful plume longer than its body, and its body took on a dazzling golden hue, unlike any ordinary Pidgeot.
The other Pokémon, including Pikachu and Lurantis, watched in awe. Although Lurantis couldn't Mega Evolve, it still admired the transformation. Excited and proud, Evan acknowledged the brilliance of the Mega Evolution while preparing for future challenges with his newly evolved Pidgeot.
Evan gazed at Pidgeot, whose entire body emitted a radiant golden light, his satisfaction evident.
"Really not bad," he said with a smile. "You look so handsome like this."
Hearing Evan's praise, Pidgeot grew even more excited. The transformation felt incredible, like a surge of endless power coursing through its body. It basked in the exhilarating sensation of its Mega Evolution, feeling both proud and elated, especially after hearing Evan's words.
Pidgeot let out a triumphant cry and walked over to the nearby lake. As it gazed into the water, it admired its reflection—a vibrant and majestic image unlike anything it had seen before. Pride swelled within it, and for a moment, Pidgeot even thought about heading to the mountains to show off to a group of Pidgey.
However, before it could revel in its newfound form for long, Evan canceled the Mega Evolution, returning it to its original state.
Pidgeot was visibly displeased, letting out a protesting cry as if to say, "Why cancel it now? I was just getting started!"
Evan frowned slightly but responded firmly. "Alright, enough. Don't be rude. That's enough fun for now."
With the experiment a success, Evan had no intention of letting Pidgeot linger in its transformation just to indulge its vanity. Smiling, he thought to himself, Letting it stay narcissistic all day? Not happening.
As the moment passed, Evan reflected on the abilities that made all of this possible. His Psychic powers were undeniably strong, even allowing him to bypass traditional requirements for Mega Evolution. Evan realized he could use his Psychic energy as a bridge to force a connection, opening the Pokémon's heart and enabling it to Mega Evolve without requiring high levels of friendliness.
He marveled at his potential, stroking his chin in thought. Over time, he had gained greater mastery of his Psychic powers, even though they remained untamed in some aspects. The key moments—like connecting to Gardevoir and Gallade—had often drained significant amounts of his Psychic energy, but the effort helped him learn more about control.
Evan began to wonder if there was a way to deepen his mastery. His Psychic abilities were unlike anything a human should possess. Could Pokémon, like Gardevoir, help him refine his skills? After all, Psychic powers in Pokémon and humans must share some similarities.
His mind drifted to a theory he had considered before. Perhaps his immense Psychic strength originated from Mewtwo. The idea that the system had imbued him with a "Psychic seed" from Mewtwo seemed plausible—how else could his abilities feel so alien and overwhelming?
Lost in thought, Evan resolved to keep exploring his limits. If anyone could teach him to harness such extraordinary power, perhaps it would be his own Pokémon.
For now, though, Evan's focus remained sharp. The future held many possibilities, and his Psychic potential was only beginning to unfold.
