Luca raised an eyebrow as he sat on the couch in Réne's office. The moment the convoy had entered the back section of the base, Luca's skin was crawling. He watched as Réne took Alicia into his arms and whispered something into her ear. When she replied just as softly, Luca turned around to take in the rest of the base.
The hangar bay that they had entered looked like something out of a movie. The only thing they were missing was the airplanes, but according to Alicia, Country M was hit by an EMP from Country K, and nothing worked after that.
However, the lies seemed to be woven into the truth as he watched guards holding up scan cards to the doors. Did everyone lack electricity, or was it just the second-class citizens? Either way, it wasn't his circus, and it definitely wasn't his monkeys. He was here to get the information he needed to get his memories back, and then he would figure things out from there.
"Long time no see," said Réne, bringing Luca out of his head.
