Dimitri paced back and forth in the living room that seemed to be getting smaller with every step that he took.
"You're going to wear a hole in the floor," sneered Chang Xuefeng without looking up from his book. "You might as well relax. Tank is with her, and Hattie is going to be back when she is good and ready."
"I don't care that the dog is with her," hissed Dimitri, his accent completely gone as he was lost in his anger. "I want to be with her."
"You could have fooled me," muttered Chang Xuefeng as he turned yet another page. It was a good thing that he had read this particular book a few times, because he was just going through the motions. He hadn't read a single word… but that wasn't the point.
The point was that he was supposed to be relaxed, not try to take apart the world simply because Hattie hadn't come home for a single night.
