Chapter 144 - Holy Water and Unholy Revenge

Kushina, completely bewildered and not knowing what was happening, saw Tsunade's determined attitude and her own boyfriend waving at her. Pouting, she closed the door to the specimen room again.

Swish—

Tsunade leaped from behind the experiment table, dashed forward in one swift movement, and reached out to grab Kei's collar.

"Hey, hey, hey—Let's talk this out! No need for violence!"

Kei stepped back and raised his hand to block Tsunade's approaching palm. He dodged again, avoiding the follow-up attack. But suddenly, Tsunade's hand unexpectedly pulled at the front of her own robe.

Kei's eyes widened, but before he could even see anything, the next moment, Tsunade had already hooked an arm around his neck, locking him in her embrace once again.

"You're not fighting fair!"

"Hah! Against someone like you, why would I care about fairness? Just answer me! Tell me, what exactly did you do to me?!"

"Nothing! Seriously, nothing! Just a little cleansing genjutsu, that's all."

Kei didn't even blink as he spoke smoothly.

"Cleansing, my ass! You used the genjutsu—you seriously don't know what the hell was in it? You call that cleansing?!"

Tsunade's voice was low and full of menace. Her face leaned in close to Kei's ear, as if she were about to bite off a chunk of his flesh.

For three whole days in the genjutsu world, she had been trapped inside some so-called church. The moment she arrived, she saw a seductive nun in a revealing habit, white stockings, and high heels, smoking a cigarette, chatting casually at the church entrance with a refined, polite, and handsome priest.

After just five minutes of listening, she learned they were waiting for a young boy. Her killing intent surged instantly, and she took both of them out on the spot.

But the moment they died, the genjutsu forcibly assigned her the role of the new nun.

That afternoon, she had to start listening to the prayers and confessions of the believers in the church.

The first to confess was a middle-aged man who admitted that, out of jealousy, he had inadvertently caused the death of his paralyzed grandfather. As a result, his wife became another man's mistress, and his child turned out not to be his. Out of guilt, he pretended not to know.

The second was a young man who, at the age of thirteen, had caught a fish and, out of curiosity, stuffed it into his pants. Two weeks later, when the rotting fish hidden under his bed began to stink, his father found out and forced him to bury it. Ever since then, he became obsessed with fishing.

The third was a woman who sold seafood. One day, she had a sudden idea when she saw an eel...

Three days!

A full three days of listening to all kinds of bizarre, messed-up confessions!

"Uh... This genjutsu was tailor-made for you. Now, tell me—after listening to their prayers, don't you feel a lot more normal?"

Kei grinned without a trace of guilt. If he could just pass this off as a genjutsu technique, why would he be nervous? Besides, though the content of the genjutsu seemed absurd, wasn't it actually kind of effective?

For those who sincerely repented and whose mistakes weren't too severe, Tsunade had genuinely played the role of a nun, offering comfort and guidance.

For those who were truly wicked, she didn't hold back—executing them on the spot!

So wasn't this three-day stint as a church inquisitor actually a journey of self-reflection?

"..."

Tsunade's gaze flickered. Her fists clenched and loosened several times.

Why did it feel like this bastard actually had a point?! What kind of twisted logic was this?! And yet... her condition had indeed improved significantly because of the genjutsu.

When she looked again at the various organs and tissues in the specimen room, she no longer felt that uncontrollable surge of emotions.

This...

"You probably haven't eaten yet, right? It's New Year's—let's go home and have a proper meal!"

Seeing her reaction, Kei immediately knew he had successfully fooled her. Without hesitation, he threw her a way out.

"No way!" Tsunade gritted her teeth. She couldn't just let Kei off so easily! If she let this slide, then what about all the suffering she had just endured?

She clasped her hands together, quickly forming a series of seals. A soft green light of medical ninjutsu radiated from her palm, and she struck Kei's abdomen with her glowing hand.

Slap!

Water splashed everywhere.

Using the Hydrification Technique, Kei dissolved into liquid form, escaping from Tsunade's grasp and reforming his body two meters away.

He wasn't stupid—why would he just stand there and let Tsunade hit him?

Even though, judging by her hand seals, it seemed to be a medical ninjutsu, but the sight of Fugaku's miserable state from last night was still fresh in his mind.

A lesson learned from the mistakes of others.

He had no intention of spending the next three days unable to walk properly. However, as he felt his blood circulating faster and a subtle restlessness in his body, Kei's face twitched slightly.

Damn it.

A diversion tactic—attacking head-on while secretly making a move! Where the hell did she learn this from?!

On the surface, she had seemed to be attacking with her hand seal techniques. But in reality, the moment the seals were completed, the arm hooked around his neck had already been emitting that unique Yang Release medical chakra.

No matter how fast he reacted, using the Hydrification Technique to escape still required a split second.

Had he known, he would've just used the Flying Thunder God instead!

The effect of this...

"A master of pitching tents? The flagbearer of Konoha?"

"If you can't come up with a decent name, just shut up! Hmph—I'll crack your technique sooner or later!" Tsunade looked at the effects of the technique with clear dissatisfaction, turned her head away in disgust, and strode out the door.

"If you really want to study this, I can give you a demonstration." Hearing her words, Kei immediately realized that she had already determined him to be the culprit.

So he stopped pretending.

The moment he finished speaking, he used the Flying Thunder God Technique to appear right beside her.

His left hand formed a seal, and his right palm, glowing with a bright green medical chakra, smacked her lower back.

Slap!

Even though Tsunade tried her best to dodge, this sudden, unpredictable attack...

Damn it!

The Flying Thunder God Technique!

This brat had mentioned before that he had sparred with Minato using Flying Thunder God. But when did he place a Flying Thunder God mark on her?!

Gritting her teeth, she glared at Kei with murderous intent, clenching her fists and preparing to strike back.

But before she could, her legs gave out uncontrollably, and she trembled violently before collapsing onto the ground.

"Kei! You... are so... dead! Hah—haa..."

"We're all so close—shouldn't it be fair if I get you once, and you get me once?"

"You attacked first!"

"Didn't Fugaku already take one for you?"

"It's... not the same!"

"Uh... how about this? For your grandfather's sake, let's call it even and start fresh?"

"You... still dare to bring up... my grandfather?! You're... dead meat! Dead meat!"

"Uh... I forgot to mention—I signed a special contract with your grandfather, so technically, I'm kind of his successor. How about letting this slide for his sake?"

"You think... you're his successor?!"

"Successor of Wood Release?"

"..."

As the abnormal sensations in her body gradually subsided, Tsunade lay sprawled out on the floor, drenched in sweat, her lips trembling from biting down too hard.

She glared at Kei, who was crouching beside her, looking like she wanted to murder him.

A long silence followed.

She stared at him until he finally let out an awkward chuckle. Only then did she speak.

"There's no way you could've learned Wood Release."

"My contract and technique are a little special. They allow me to inherit certain abilities from the deceased. Oh, by the way, there are still two kids in Konoha who can learn Wood Release. Want to meet them?"

Kei rummaged in his pocket and pulled out an unprocessed sunflower seed.

With a single-hand seal, a sunflower sprouted and quickly grew.

"Senju bloodline?"

"Not me, obviously. As for them, they're survivors of the human experiments from a few years ago. Back then..." Kei began explaining the origins of Yamato and another child named Akeno.

Tsunade frowned, lifting her sore arm to take the sunflower, turning it over in her hands as she examined it.
