Chapter 1 - The Body

Flesh pumped around me, it was so dark and yet light filled whatever I was inside of. My body was beaten and sore, and as I tried to think much of my memory was failing me. I remembered the castle walls had disappeared just a minute prior.

I clawed at the Earth.

I was greeted with the feeling of new unhealed flesh that hoped to be left alone. But as I clumsily got up with my boots burying into the ground, I could not give it such satisfaction.

The walls, ceiling, and ground were all the same pinkish pulsating figure. Slime occasionally coated the environment, a clear fluid that stuck to whatever it touched and yet stayed liquid.

Odd soft egg shaped spheres seemed to be growing through out the room. One egg lay punctured with my sword sticking out, covered in the slime. I learned this substances properties the hard way as I stumbled through the halls.

My legs were week and wanting for comfort. My skull pounded in want for medicine, and my ears constantly ringing.

My sword in hand I cleaned the blade with my coat and sheathed my blade.

Stifling sudden panic at my surroundings, I took note of my body.

The coat and pants on my person had been stained with the slimy substance. The dark brown clothes turned even darker as the liquid fell from the ceiling on to various parts of my clothes.

The only hindrance was my leg. It had been bruised quit badly, enough for the skin to turn a blackish red and start swelling.

My first instinct to relax and regroup was to lean against a wall but my mind sent my body jumping away right onto my bruised leg. The pain being unbearable, I fell into a puddle of slime. My black hair covered with the liquid. It shone before my eyes.

I laid in the puddle, too dirty to care for any further movement. My eyes closed from exhaustion and time slipped from my mind.

...

Once my hearing returned I could make out the sound of feint cries and bowels shifting and stretching.

My mind was now more clear but my panic was increased. Before the pain dulled my senses, but now my eyes found the rooms to be confining and impossibly perfect in geometry.

The walls were straight and if not for the texture, it would be just the same as any normal wall in a home. The environment was an impossibility, the look of flesh but the structure of a man made building.

As I continued the rooms began to grow in size, and the complexity increased.

Larger rooms, circular rooms, walkways leading to other connecting rooms that connected to each other. It quickly became a maze.

Eventually, I found stairs leading up. As I climbed the slippery steps, I noticed that the hall they led me too was a long corridor.

No other path except straight forward.

As I peered down the hall, my eyes peering just over the last step, I saw it. On all fours, its head was similar to a deer but its eyes were placed on it's sides like a bird. The body carrying the head hunched grotesquely, the spine poking from the skin, it's anatomy and bones being that close to a human. It lumbered to the left, stopping in the door frame at the end of the hall. Its long fingers holding up its torso pushed it on its hind legs. It kept its head turned but its body fell face to face with mine. It's legs curled that of a frog from its upright position raised upward, the legs unbending backwards. The feet were that of unfinished knees, the black bones were entangled by the greyish skin of the thing. Little nubs of broken skin could be mistaken for toes.

blink

It was a lunge away. In that blink of an eye it had ran so close. As soon as my eyes opened, I ducked. The creature hurled itself in the air then grabbed and tore the ceiling causing blood to begin to pour from it as it turned around for another attempt.

I ran, not wasting a second down the hall. The thing was screeching in a loud impassioned tone. I could sense it getting closer and closer. Then I saw it, a small vent like opening just large enough for myself to fit.

My legs pumped as I leaned forward, the creature now directly behind me. I leapt towards the opening.

The Head of the creature gnashed its teeth together as it tried to bite any piece of me. Thankfully the slime slid me further, just out of reach.

I began to crawl, but I could not rest. The creature started to dig into the wall. Although blood poured forth obscuring my view of it, I could tell the creature was making progress. If I was to stay it would surely make a path to reach me.

...

I crawled for hours. My stomach was begging for nourishment, but none was near. All that accompanied me were the walls and the various turns the cramped tunnel offered me.

...

An orange and red sky fell before the land of flesh. Across a vast distance stood a woman cast in shadow. Her blonde hair flowing and reflecting the light. Her tattered rags did not match her heavenly appearance. Nor did the landscape around her.

I pushed myself out of the dark hole and was greeted with the sun in the north and a land that was a hellish depiction of the trees and valleys of Earth. Trees of flesh, although small, were scattered across the land with the eggs, no, more like sacks causing the branches to lean down. Some body of liquid was in the shape of a river flowing nearby to the east and different sores creating canyons and hills all around me.

The woman began to scream on the hill she stood on. As she grabbed her stomach, tears fell down her cheeks and her belly showed to be pregnant.

My legs began to push my body down then up the rolling hills. I left a red irritated trail behind as my body led me to the woman.

Once I reached her, she was no longer that of a young beautiful woman. Her eyes were still a beautiful grey blue but her features were that of an ancient woman. She grabbed my hand, then opening her mouth fell a small green crystal.

Putting her hand on my face, she spoke "Fltn zhe avi." and with that she covered my eyes with her wrinkly hand.
