Chapter 21 - Chapter 21:

Even after having been left to do as he pleased, Alex still did not know what he should be doing at this time. Instead, all he could do was wander the empty land on his own for a bit. Having to kill a few demons along the way when he was. At first he was going to send the corpses back to the Union, but he then decided to go through with an idea that he was likely to regret. But he could really care less at this point.

He instead sent them to Gris, and eventually made his presence known to her. He wasn't too sure about it, especially since he was still uneasy about trusting her. Because she had seemingly already lied to them about holding some level of power in the black market, but if she didn't, why would the Union want them to check about her trying to get her hands in on a deal going down there?

Were they lying? Was Gris lying? Was Cassian? It was conflicting, but he still went through and decided to go by and see Gris. And surely enough, she didn't seem mad at all, instead joking about them leaving her, acting as if she was hurt, but then immediately going back to a joking tone with him. So, Alex decides to ask her if she could actually force the memories of himself to return in some capacity.

At first, Gris was intrigued by him wanting her to force it, with her mentioning that good things come to those who wait, and Alex was going to accept that, but she told him to maybe let loose do something to try and be free. And after she had him go on to be "free as a bird" as she said, where he'd conversed with someone about things, with said person having a genuine idea on what to do to make it better for him. But then mentioning ideas that'd even impress Gris with how chaotic they were. After it all was said and done, Alex was back on his own now, but with his head looking up this time around.

It was still him mostly walking around on his own in different areas until he used the teleporter he had and ended up teleporting somewhere that was covered in snow. It was refreshing to feel the snow laying around him, looking around at it falling down gently. It was all something that allowed him a moment of peace after this whirlwind of a time he had been having for the past month or so.

He was feeling more at peace this time around as he soon walked into a forest. The snow covered leaves surrounded him, it gave him a level of comfort that actually held him down to what someone might consider his sanity was dwindling, but it still did him good to go out and be fine. He would find himself at a cave entrance. Walking in, the only sound then was the echo of his footsteps in the long chamber of stone.

He pressed on, not taking much note of anything else until he decided to go and turn back. But when he did, he would then find the outside was more of a blizzard this time after having spent all that time out there, and he decides to wait it out. Yes, he could use the teleporter to get out of there. Yes, he could have attempted many different things, but he didn't. He was enjoying being there. Just sitting there, throwing a rock up into the air every so often, catching it again, before repeating the cycle once more.

This kept on for some time until he held onto the rock for a moment, looking out to the forest, preceded by him letting out a large sigh. A part of him was still wondering who he used to be and everything, but he was just a bit tired by this point in time. His body finally realized it was cold, with the hand he was holding feeling the coldest at that point when he threw it up again. Yet once he caught it once more, he took notice of the rock, because not it wasn't even that.

The rock was covered in ice. Not like it had snow on it and froze over time. Instead, it looked like the entire thing was frozen in such a small time frame. It shocked him, as he stood up, walking back to place his hand on the cave wall. He then looked at the wall where his hand was, swiftly backing away when there was a handprint made of ice right there. Confusion followed him when he noticed this, but he then began to laugh about this sudden revelation that had just occurred to him.

He decides to walk out into the blizzard that was occurring out there, ignoring the cold, before placing his hand on a small tree that was near him, before trying to concentrate about it all. He had closed his eyes when doing this, but once he opened them again after almost a minute, he found that the tree had been covered in ice entirely. He decides to go ahead and push it alongside numerous kicks, which makes the bottom of it crackle and snap, leaving the tree to fall to the ground. He knew this feat wasn't too much.

Especially considering how much smaller and skinnier it was compared to the others, it wasn't all that impressive, but it was the fact that he had found this power he had here that made it all the more worthwhile to him. He goes back to the cave and starts thinking a bit more, and it was like some of the memories that he once had were beginning to become less and less fuzzy until he was able to actually remember them.

He didn't do much after that, however. Just sitting there with the some memories that got back to him, letting them remind himself of who he once was. It was almost like a recording that he had playing on loop over and over again with those memories he had. He didn't do much except think about it as the snowy storm raged on outside.
