Chapter 144 - Higher Research

One week.

It took Suguru one week to completely and absolutely absorb the pale, white arm. A mix of different cells had merged within him, creating a perfectly homogeneous structure different from the way Danzo had once 'worn' the arm.

Now, Suguru's complexion had become as pale as Orochimaru's. An uncanny pearly white — artificial and cold.

Looking at his regenerated limbs, Suguru stretched.

'Hmm,'

Feeling his body coursing with immense vitality, he felt like laughing out loud. Now, every cell in his body was equivalent to Hashirama's own. Furthermore, he now had access to Uchiha Shin's unique genetic makeup.

Basically, Suguru now had a body that could accept any genetic material and use it as if he always had it.

'I've improved my Living Corpse Assimilation another step higher.'

Various thoughts flitted in and out of Suguru's mind.

'Perhaps this was how Shin got the Mangekyou Sharingan in the original — his body was just too good at assimilating foreign DNA.'

Realizing that he had overlooked such a side-effect, Suguru took his time, slowly understanding the changes in his body.

'Thanks to Shin's genes, my assimilation of Hashirama's Cells was incredibly seamless. With enough practice, I should be able to heal without hand signs and use Wood Release.'

Even though Suguru did not absorb an entire body, he benefitted as if he had absorbed two.

The two types of genes and his own Kinjutsu were just too compatible with each other.

It was an unexpected windfall.

However, there was a weird drawback.

"..."

Opening his palms, he could see something growing from them. Two white saplings had sprouted, seemingly feeding on his abundant vitality and chakra.

Suguru was tempted to place a pair of Sharingan there and mimic Otsutsuki Momoshiki of the distant future.

"Actually, that does seem like a good idea."

Blinking, he was further astounded by his unique body. Given his earlier plans, Suguru finally had a concrete glimpse of completing his personal resurrection jutsu.

He could roam the world without fear of death as long as he wasn't sealed in the Reaper Death Seal.

"I'm almost as terrifying as Orochimaru..." Suguru chuckled.

He was most likely the greatest student that Orochimaru would ever have. Especially since eternal youth was also in sight — a feat that he could accomplish much sooner than his immortality jutsu.

A great teacher had given rise to a great student.

Therefore.

'It's time to resume my research.'

A lot of possibilities had opened up. Now, instead of having to use Hashirama's Cells exclusively, Suguru could use his own. With his growing familiarity with life force thanks to Senju Kisouma, he could finally proceed forward.

"True abundance can only be achieved by the world's farmers."

Muttering these words, a vile grin spread across Suguru's lips.

***

In the future, Orochimaru was capable of creating synthetic humans — beings who were, in essence, humans with an incredible array of abilities.

Suguru planned on using a fraction of this concept.

Especially now that he had access to a lot of growth-based genetic material, the creation of a farm that would be filled with artificial human clones was possible.

By suppressing particular parts of the growth of these human clones, Suguru could prevent the birth of a real consciousness and maintain only the essential portions he needed.

Then, chakra which would be compatible with his body could then be harvested at regular intervals.

'Furthermore, I can try doing that—'

Suguru had long planned to cause chaos throughout the Shinobi world. In particular, he wanted to see what would happen when the Sharingan was spread to more than just those from the Uchiha Clan.

This also applied to the Byakugan, Ketsuryugan, and Ranmaru's Shinrakugan.

If a lot of people could use these Dojutsu, what kind of developments would occur?

In line with this question...

'I need to complete the Gannoujou as soon as possible.'

Without it, he would run out of eyes before making a significant burst of chaos.

***

After calming himself, Suguru settled behind a wide table filled with books and papers. To the side, corpses were lined up, neatly sorted by age and value. An array of seals were arranged on their bodies, preserving their state and preventing decomposition.

—Crackle!

The sound of a thunderstorm outside rang out like a sporadic drum.

Currently, Suguru carved out an uninhabited peak in the Land of Lightning. He had arbitrarily chosen a random mountain range to serve as his base.

Here, in the barren skies filled with charged particles, he planned to create life. In a sense, he was inspired by Victor Frankenstein and the monster he created.

The Land of Lightning matched this theme perfectly.

"Hmm,"

Massaging his forehead while he processed the information sent to him by his clones, Suguru hummed a tune from his distant past life.

"I think I should start with the Human Clone Chakra Farm. It will serve as the perfect basis for the Gannoujou and Kekkei Genkai Garden." Muttering to himself, he quickly drafted a plan for the coming months.

"Perhaps I should also develop a perfect clone of myself to manage this place while I'm gone."

Feeling his headache slowly dissipate as he sorted through the information he studied, Suguru once again commanded his chakra to boil.

'Shadow Clone Jutsu.'

He formed a few dozen clones, each one standing at the large table with piles of documents laid out before them.

The clones all glanced at each other. Then...

—Crack.

Their eyes shattered and reformed.

Depending on the task they were assigned to, their eyes took different forms.

The Sharingan was used to study seals and intricate formations.

The Shinrakugan was used to refine information and observe the flow of life force.

The Byakugan was used to study chakra and the smallest details of the world's surroundings.

The Ketsuryugan was used to study the body and the way one's chakra naturally interacted with blood.

"This should be good for now."

Nodding to himself, Suguru figured out a use for each of his eyes to make sure that he did not waste anything while he worked. Although the Ketsuryugan was a little harder to utilize given its purely combat-related abilities, he still found value in its Hemokinetic prowess.

With this arrangement in place, Suguru happily researched the creation of life...

All while eyeing Kumogakure with a glint of greed in his gaze.
