In the past, amidst the hustle and bustle of the Mortal World, mortals were ceaselessly active, unwilling to pause for even a moment. Yet, most of the time, they were actually idle, not knowing what to do.
This state manifested as faux activity, for instance, moving a stone from east to west, and another person moving it back again. Or someone might hunch over writing furiously, pondering plans, drafting from one to seven without satisfaction, then rewriting back to the first plan, repeating this cycle over and over.
In summary, they were busy racing against the day but their work stayed at the starting point; Wei Yuan did not understand who they were trying to impress. If one observed a person long enough, they would notice a repetitive cycle within a few activities.
