The so-called True God Dao, involved obtaining power through worshipping orthodox gods, enabling practitioners to acquire Divine Powers continuously as their cultivation realm elevated, approaching infinitely close to divinity, with the possibility of becoming an immortal god.
Disadvantage:
It required one to serve the gods they worshipped and protect their followers well.
The black-robed monk was practicing the True God Dao.
As for the Evil God Path:
Compared to the True God Dao, which could take decades or even hundreds of years, the Evil God Path allowed mortals to make deals with evil gods in just ten years or even a few years.
One was self-cultivation, the other was to invite a deity from the shrine to possess them, borrowing the deity's power for a short time.
