After the quiet meal, Han Zhou dabbed his lips with the napkin, stood up gracefully, and glanced once more at Xia Yu, who had barely touched her food. Her hands were frozen on the table, her mind clearly still reeling from the photographs. But he said nothing more, simply adjusted his cuffs and headed out with his usual calm, unreadable expression.
"I'll be late today," he said over his shoulder, his tone as casual as if nothing had happened moments ago.
Xia Yu nodded silently, her eyes following his tall figure until the front door clicked shut.
"Perhaps being friends was not a bad thing." She stared at the pictures and decided to inform the Lei family first.
"Mrs Chen, I am leaving for work too. But I will come on time and cook dinner for Zhou. you do not need to worry about it."
The housekeeper was worried but when she looked at the still smiling couple, she nodded and cleared the table with a happy mood.
At the Office
Su Yan sat at the edge of the leather couch in Han Zhou's office, perfectly styled in a light pastel blazer and an air of poised concern. Her eyes flicked to the clock every few seconds, the anticipation eating away at her polished exterior. When Han Zhou finally walked in, her face bloomed into a gentle smile.
"You are finally here, Mr Han. I need your signatures here." she said sweetly, standing up. She followed him toward his table as he sat there and opened the files she had passed to him. She watched him intently, searching for the signs of anger but there was none. "Mr Han, you must have left the house in a rush. Should I order your breakfast? Or you would like to go out. I can accompany you to your favorite restaurant. I will book the.."
"I had breakfast at home," he said flatly, flipping the pages of the file.
Home! That one word set Su Yan's nerves on edge. She blinked, watching him with careful eyes, observing his every move. He didn't seem rattled. His face bore no traces of anger or suspicion, no signs of a man who had just received potentially scandalous photographs of his wife.
She tilted her head, her voice dipped in faux curiosity. "So… how is Lei Mei these days?"
Han Zhou paused slightly while flipping through a file but didn't look up. "She is fine."
Could it be that she had hidden the pictures before he could see it? Her lips curled! Lei Mei always acts high and mighty but now she has resorted to stealing and hiding things.
Very well, since she wanted to hide those pictures so much, she could keep them.
Han Zhou has marked a few lines for her.
"You have made two mistakes, correct them first and then I will sign the file." Su Yan needed an excuse to leave anyway.
She took the file with a serious face and left his office. But the moment she left his office, her expression twisted.
She corrected the files diligently. Han Zhou watched her twice. She was working on the file he had returned and the new marketing project of the additional lines of products they were launching this year.
If she had not sent the file, then who had? Han Zhou stood up and left for his meeting. When he walked out of his office, Su Yan stood up.
He paused in front of her seat. His eyes hovering over the documents she was editing.
"I will be done in ten minutes sir. Where are we going?" her voice had a sweetness and rare innocence. One could not help but look at her twice and smile.
"I am going for a meeting with Mr Allen Silvister. You do not need to come. Finish your work and prepare a report on the testing of new products." Su Yan looked surprised but then she smiled.
"Of course, I will do it perfectly." the man nodded and gave one last glance to the files, he left.
Su Yan grabbed her phone and dialed swiftly.
"Send the envelope again," she said coldly. "This time, to Han Zhou's mother. Use the same photos. I want her to see them before dinner."
"Yes, Miss Su. Understood."
She ended the call and sat back, tapping her manicured nails against the leather armrest. If Lei Mei thinks she was smart then she must have an idea to hide the pictures again. No?
Su yan could not wait to see how Han Zhou would react when his mother would show pictures to him.
And that little innocent wife wouldn't be able to hide behind that soft mask of innocence when Madam Han started digging.
Su Yan smirked to herself, already imagining the chaos.
At the main residence,
"Delivery for Madam Han," the guard said.
The housekeeper brought in a large envelope. He took it to the study room where Mrs Han was reading the new poetry book he had received.
"Madam, someone had sent this envelope for you. But there is no name or address. Should I discard it?" Mr Han frowned as she looked at the envelope.
She had just finished the last page of the book and felt rather bored.
"Give it to me." She took the envelope lazily. There were random gifts often. But she had never seen an envelope before. Could someone have sent the property papers to them as a gift.
But then the sender must have left his name to fawn.
She leisurely opened the envelope only to see a picture in it. When she took out one, her eyes narrowed and then her lips curled into a cold smirk.
"Ha! Didn't that girl say that she had changed her ways now! But a bitch like her could never improve." her eyes gleamed with hatred and thrill of a perfect opportunity.
"Madam!" The housekeeper looked worried about the way she spoke. But Mrs Han only smiled at her.
"It had been days since we all had dinner together. Go and call Lei Mei, whose grandfather wanted to share a meal with her. She must come before six."
