Paul Pierce lay on the hospital bed, slowly opening his eyes.
He no longer remembered how many times he had woken up from the bed. His eyes felt incredibly heavy, as if opening them consumed all of his strength, which was why he could only stay awake for a short while before falling asleep again.
And each time he woke up, the first thing Pierce did was to pick up his phone smeared with bloodstains, looking through the call log.
Once again, after eagerly searching for a while, Pierce disappointingly put down the phone.
After the incident, Pierce had received many calls, but among all those records, there was not a single one from his biological father, George Pierce.
Pierce was utterly disheartened; even in the moment of life-threatening danger, his father wouldn't stand by him.
Even at death's doorstep, he could not gain the paternal love he had always craved.
