Sophia was startled and quickly ran to the window to look downstairs. She didn't see anyone, but a black sedan was hidden in the night, parked by the flower bed not far from the building.
Her heart raced rapidly, just like when she was a good, disciplined girl in school, with a crush on a boy who waited downstairs for her—nervous yet happy.
"What's wrong, Sophia? Is Capone downstairs?" Fiona leaned out to look around.
Sophia quickly pulled her back and said awkwardly, "Fiona, I need to step out for a bit. I'll be back soon. Don't tell anyone... about him being here, okay?"
"Not even Laura? She's been missing her dear daddy these days!"
"Uh... don't tell her for now." She feared that if Laura got excited, the whole family would know Capone was here, and it would be hard to back out.
Should she kick him out or invite him in when that happens?
Sophia sneakily slipped out. Luckily, the others were in the dining room, drinking sweet soup and watching TV, so they didn't notice her.
