Chapter 8 - Return: Home

After leaving the premises of the agency, Byung-Ho found himself slowly walking down the dark, empty city streets. His eyes were glued to the ground as he took each step. His mind was clearly preoccupied with something else.

You know what.. one day is better than none.

He continued to trot along the sidewalks with nonstop sighs coming from his mouth. Where was he heading? Well, he was heading home. But where is home? Byung-Ho stopped in front of a sketchy looking apartment complex and began to climb the stairs.

Arbitrary to its looks, the inside of the apartment isn't that bad.

He continued to climb the stairs until he made it to the third floor. His footsteps as light as possible as he approached room number 304. Due to being an undercover spy, his overall mission is to not reveal his identity. Meaning that he needs to lay low no matter what.. also meaning that a sketchy apartment complex was probably the best possible option for shelter. (Other than the agency sleeping headquarters... which is full of crazy people.)

Tak

He opened the door and slipped his shoes off as he entered the messy room. His body felt incredibly heavy now that he was in such a confined space. He slammed himself against his couch and laid there lifelessly.

"Crap.. should've just stuck with the agency sleeping headquarters..." He mumbled while reaching for the remote controller.

"I need to shower.. brush my teeth.. eat dinner..." His voice slowly became quieter as he dozed off into a deep slumber. Controller in hand.

BEEP BEEP

Hours passed, and Byung-Ho jolted awake from the sounds of all his alarms going off. "F*ck! That scared me." He quickly climbed off the couch and ran to his bedroom to turn off the alarms. Wait.. today is my day off...

He paused and glanced around his dirty apartment. He never had any time to clean due to all the missions he had been assigned to. But now... he felt a fiery urge to pick up his cleaning utensils. He quickly stretched and rushed to his radio to turn on some tunes to listen to as he cleaned up. Contrary to Byung-Ho's personality, he quite enjoyed cleaning. It was like a treat after a long day of suffering with his boss... and all the crazy agents at Rapid1.

Swish- swoosh- CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN

Lala~ hm~

Byung-Ho sang along to the tunes that came out the radio as he swept, mopped, and dusted. Even though his dark eyebags weren't any better, his mood was undeniably in better spirits.

Hours later, and Byung-Ho was finally done cleaning.

He took a step back and admired his brand new room. It sparkled brightly, there was no corner left untouched. Byung-Ho couldn't stop smiling at the spotlessness of his room. In fact, he stood there for another few minutes before finally heading to the bathroom to brush his teeth and shower for the day. His humming could still be heard from the bathroom as he frolics around in the shower. I haven't felt this way in so long~

After finishing up, he threw on some pajamas and wrapped a towel around his hair before stepping out of the bathroom. A large smile spread across his face as he admired his apartment room once again. "Heh.. I did pretty good."

He gave himself a pat on the back as he happily made his way to the kitchen. He opened the refrigerator door and his smile immediately dropped.

Empty.

It was completely empty except for the molding cheese in the back of the fridge. He let out a groan and immediately slammed the door shut before rushing towards the door. "I have to go grocery shopping on my day off... ahhhh...."

He quickly trailed down the stairs as he ran to the nearest grocery store in the area. The towel still wrapped around his head.

When he arrived at the grocery store, he stood in front of the door. He tried to push the door open, but was met with stares when the door didn't budge. Crap.. what's wrong with this door? He continued to push against the door until a customer appeared and pulled Byung-Ho away.

"It's a pull to open door." They said while pointing at a big sign with the words PULL on it.

Byung-Ho stared at the customer and chuckled before reaching for the handle and pulling it open. "Of course.. I knew that. I was just testing the door.." He quickly entered the store and grabbed a basket before hiding behind a shelf. Crap, that was embarassing!

He hid behind the shelf for a good few minutes before letting out a sigh. I'm a f*king idiot.. idiot.. idiot!

He kept repeating the same thoughts in his head as he searched for ingredients to keep in his fridge. He grabbed as many items as he could, until his basket was completely full. After he arrived at the cashier register, he reached for his wallet but was met with nothing.. IDIOT. He quickly patted down all his pockets in search for his wallet, but was met with absolutely nothing. He glanced up at the cashier worker and smiled sheepishly.

"Uh.. so.. I'll be right back! I forgot my wallet!"

Byung-Ho rushed towards the exit door of the grocery store, but struggled to open the door as he tugged on it relentlessly. Why won't this thing budge?! Suddenly, the same customer from earlier appeared and pointed at a large sign.

"Push-"

Byung-Ho quickly pushed the door open and ran out. His speeds were almost as fast as a bicycle as he rushed through the busy streets. Day off my a**! This is hell!

He quickly arrived at his apartment door while panting and gasping for air. His hand trembled as he reached for the door. He quickly opened the door and lunged into his room in search for his wallet. He rummaged everywhere until he remembered that he left his bag of things at the agency.

...

"...No.. no, no, no! I'm not going back there on my day off!" He yelled loudly while gripping onto his hair. "Why can't things ever go my way?!" He huffed and panted while storming around his room in a panic.

Wait. I have an idea.

Byung-Ho quickly ran out his door once again and zoomed across many roads as cars drove by.

BEEP BEEP BEEEP

He managed to not get hit by anyone, but now he was completely exhausted from trying to avoid the cars. Hahhh.

"I'm sneaking in."

He mumbled quietly as he stood in front of the agency building. Still nearly out of breath.

He tried not to act suspicious as he slowly tredged along the walls of the building. He quickly climbed onto a trashcan and grabbed the ledge of the building. Here we go- He slung himself up and landed on a thin ledge against the wall. He let out a sigh of relief and continued to inch himself bit by bit until he was close enough to one of the many secret entrances. "This should be it.." He mumbled as he tugged onto a tiny string the poked out the walls.

ZIIIP

A small entrance peered out the building and he immediately hopped in, wasting no time. As soon as he managed to infiltrate his own agency, he took cover from all cameras. This is dangerous.. if I'm caught.. I might be put back to work!

He swiftly hid behind different objects while trying to avoid the cameras. However, he nearly forgot that there would be agents roaming around at this time.

The sounds of chattering could be heard along the hallways, so Byung-Ho quickly wrapped the towel he was wearing around his face instead of his head.

"Hm..?" The agents paused to look at the man coveted in a towel. "Who-"

Byung-Ho quickly took off and ran to the Agent locker rooms. He busted inside despite all the agents staring at him in confusion. Crap, crap, crap! We're almost there...

He quickly entered his locker code and scanned his biometrics before slamming the locker open and grabbing his bag.

The agents were growing more suspicious, and now they were on the verge of trapping Byung-Ho in the room. But Byung-Ho was not an expert for nothing!

"Wait! What's that over there?!"

He quickly pointed at an empty wall, causing all the attention to be diverted away from him. He then slid across the floor and out the door while clutching onto his bag tightly.

Yes! Finally! I need to hurry-

Plunk

...

What? I don't remember a wall being here-

He glanced up after slamming into something. His towel slowly slid off his face, revealing a glaring face staring down at him. "Agent.. AGENT TRIPLE?!"

Byung-Ho immediately backed away while shrieking. He quickly turned around and made a run for it.. but Triple tugged onto Byung-Ho's arm.. as usual. "Agent Phony, what are you doing here?"

Not this guy! Why did I have to get caught by this guy of all people?!

...

He stared up at Agent Triple awkwardly before laughing.. quietly....

"I.. I left my wallet."

He smiled sheepishly as he glanced away.

Now, there was a crowd surrounding them.

Agent Triple stared down at Byung-Ho silently before throwing him to the side. "You could have asked someone at the counter to bring it for you."

Byung-Ho nearly fell as he was thrown to the side. However, he paused and stated at Agent Triple after processing his words. Right.. I could have done that.

He slowly turned around and trudged towards the exit. Fail.. this was a complete fail. He sighed and left the agency building in complete shame.

After minutes of walking, Byung-Ho finally returned to the grocery store.

He watched his grocery items be checked out by the cashier worker once again. This time, he was in complete and utter defeat. He sighed under his breath as he finally paid for the groceries and left the store. He carried the heavy bags of groceries all the way back to his apartment. Up the stairs. To the door. And open-

What.

He stared inside his apartment room in horror.

WHAT THE F*CK
