Walking through the palace hallway, William was flanked by his adviser and secretary, deep in discussion as they made their way to his office. Since morning, he had been buried in paperwork—the backlog he had left behind while away on a mission.
As they passed by the garden, William's gaze instinctively drifted upward to the second floor, where Willie's bedroom was located. The curtains were still drawn shut.
He turned to his adviser. "Did Prince Willie report to the office this morning?"
The adviser lowered his head. "His Highness hasn't reported back since his return, Your Highness."
William's jaw tightened. His expression darkened.
"Both of you go ahead. I'll be back shortly."
The adviser and secretary exchanged a knowing look before exhaling softly, watching as William strode off.
When he reached Willie's door, he didn't bother knocking. With a single push, the door flew open effortlessly as he stepped inside.
