Chapter 3 - C3: The Wolf and Skill Creation

Daniel began walking among the giant trees, the fresh air enveloping his skin, but uncertainty still weighed on him.

He couldn't help but feel as if he were in some kind of dream or nightmare, where everything seemed unreal, yet tangible at the same time.

He was alive, yes, but how long would that luck last?

The system hadn't explained anything else to him about the world he found himself in or the dangers he might face. The only thing clear was that he wasn't the only being aware of this place.

Suddenly, a cracking of dry branches alerted him. He turned toward the sound, his survival instinct awakening within him.

A huge wolf appeared between the trees, its eyes blazing intensely. It didn't look friendly.

Daniel barely had time to react when the wolf leaped toward him with impressive speed, its claws flashing in the sunlight filtered through the leaves. Daniel tried to back away, but he wasn't fast enough.

The wolf reached him and, with a swift movement, ripped his side with its sharp claws.

A stabbing pain ran through his body. Blood began to soak his shirt, and the wolf, smelling the wound, prepared for a second attack.

Daniel felt despair take hold of him. However, something inside him awakened. A voice, or perhaps just his thoughts, told him he couldn't die here.

At that critical moment, the system activated automatically, allowing Daniel the option of creating a skill in an instant of need.

The panel floated in front of him, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, and Daniel, with the wolf advancing toward him, didn't hesitate. In a sigh, he thought about healing. At that moment, his body felt as if it were on the verge of collapse, and something inside him told him he had to use whatever he could to survive.

The skill activated the instant Daniel concentrated. The wound on his side began to feel slightly lighter. Although it wasn't completely healed, the pain lessened significantly. He felt the mana drain from his body, but the feeling of relief was immediate.

The wolf, already about to leap at him, paused for a second, surprised by the change in its victim's posture. Daniel, now with renewed strength from the healing, tried to assume a defensive stance, although he still felt vulnerable.

The wolf, seeing that its prey wasn't as defenseless as it seemed, growled, but didn't hesitate. It lunged at Daniel again, and Daniel, knowing he couldn't evade it again, decided to use the only tool he had: his skill creation.

Daniel quickly thought of something more offensive: an energy attack. An energy projectile, even a small one, might be enough to scare the wolf away. But he knew the mana cost would be higher.

The panel appeared again:

CreatedSkill: Mana Projectile - Rank F

Description: Launches a basic mana projectile at a target.

ManaCost: 10

Daniel, gritting his teeth with the effort, reached out toward the wolf, concentrating everything he could on the projectile. A green glow appeared in his palm, taking shape and shooting toward the wolf.

The projectile hit the wolf in the side, sending it skidding backward from the blow, but it didn't defeat it. However, it was enough to give Daniel time to retreat and gain some space.

The now wounded wolf growled in frustration, and Daniel took advantage of that second of advantage.

With the wolf recovering from the blow, Daniel knew he couldn't keep this up much longer. His mana was dwindling, and fatigue was beginning to weigh on him. He looked at his panel, which showed he only had 10 mana left.

If he didn't find a way to end the fight soon, he would be completely vulnerable.

The battle was far from over, but for the first time, Daniel felt he had a chance.

Following through, taking his last chance, he did his best, using his already exhausted body and mana fatigue, and managed to hit the wolf in the same wound.
