Chapter 143 - Chapter 99 Goku and Bulma, and the stunned Master Roshi (Part 3)

Meanwhile, on Earth.

Having left Mount Paozu with Bulma, Goku was now going through the same events with her that they went through in the original work.

It can be said that although the arrival of Talot, Salari, and Gine had caused many changes, these changes have mostly only affected Goku. Essentially, they have only resulted in Bulma meeting Goku earlier.

Of course, Goku's power level has increased drastically. In the original work, he had only a power level of 10, but now, he has a full 150.

150!

Master Roshi, without exerting himself, only has a power level of 139.

Even if he goes all out, his power level would only reach 180.

This means that even the current Master Roshi wouldn't be able to easily defeat Goku.

In the original work's storyline, during Goku's first time participating in the World Martial Arts Tournament, he was barely able to put up a decent fight against Master Roshi disguised as Jackie Chun. At that time, his power level was only around 100 to 120.

Later, after undergoing some training, during the battle with Mercenary Tao, Goku's power level reached 150 after completing the trial of Korin Tower and Korin.

By the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament, he had reached a power level of 180.

Although the period that followed was one of rapid growth, the actual increments weren't that large.

For example, after drinking the Ultra Divine Water, Goku's power level only rose to 260, which was the same as King Piccolo in his youth.

After training with Kami for three years, Goku's power level was only about 400.

Even though his power level didn't increase significantly by the time of the Raditz saga, at least his maximum energy output could exceed 900.

Returning to the point, with some changes in the premise, it's only natural that some things will also change.

However, even with these changes in premise, they would only affect specific people and events. The early storyline of the original work would still remain largely unchanged.

In other words, since the timing of their search for the Dragon Balls had not changed, certain key events will naturally remain the same.

The butterfly effect can cause many things to deviate from their original course or even prevent them from happening altogether.

However, it depends on whether this particular butterfly actually influences those events.

For now, there isn't much difference.

Speaking of the current situation, after leaving Mount Paozu yesterday and resting for a night, Goku and Bulma encountered Turtle. At Turtle's request, they escorted him back to the ocean.

Along the way, they were attacked by a bear monster attempting to rob them, but Goku easily defeated it.

Then, they waited by the shore until evening before Master Roshi finally arrived.

The story was progressing just like in the original work.

To show his gratitude, Master Roshi initially intended to summon the Immortal Phoenix. However, after being reminded by the Turtle, he recalled that the Immortal Phoenix had died some time ago from eating poisonous food.

This revelation left Bulma speechless, while Master Roshi awkwardly explained that he had named it the Immortal Phoenix because he hoped it would live forever.

Left with no other option, Master Roshi had to offer the Flying Nimbus instead.

And that's when the awkward moment happened.

Bulma liked it very much, but because of her impure heart, she was unable to ride it. Meanwhile, the Flying Nimbus seemed to take a liking to Goku, clinging to him and trying to get him to ride it.

However, Goku wasn't interested in flying at all, as he had already learned the Saiyans' flying technique from Raditz, who had taught him intentionally or unintentionally when he was young.

Hearing this, Master Roshi was in disbelief.

After all, even he could never master the Sky Hovering Art, yet young Goku had already learned it.

Through further conversation, Master Roshi learned that not only was Goku a Saiyan, but he was also the very child that Son Gohan had found and taken in years ago.

Clearly, Master Roshi knew far more about Goku than he did in the original work. One reason was because he had met Talot and gathered a lot of information. Another reason was that Son Gohan had kept in contact with him and told him about these things.

Finally, Master Roshi, whether intentionally or not, probed into Goku's strength. What he learned left him completely astounded.

Upon discovering that his grandpa had been this old man's disciple, Goku became excited and wanted to challenge Master Roshi to a fight.

As an elder, Master Roshi couldn't refuse a child's request, so he decided to humor Goku, thinking that he might as well put on a little display of skill and perhaps even take him as a disciple.

However, after a light sparring match, Master Roshi ended up straining his old back.

Fortunately, his old age gave him a convenient excuse to bow out, and Goku wasn't the type to press the attack maliciously.

As he left, Master Roshi could only curse in his heart: Saiyans are truly monsters.

He, the master of martial arts, was actually no match for a 12-year-old Saiyan child.

After bidding farewell to Master Roshi, the sun had already set.

The sea breeze blew against their bodies, making Bulma shiver.

"Wait a minute! That old man didn't even give me a gift to thank me, and he just left like that? Ugh~~!" Bulma grumbled in displeasure.

Goku, however, didn't think much of it and simply remarked, "It's fine! Besides, he's a really amazing—no wonder he was Grandpa's master."

His childish voice, combined with his pure and straightforward personality, made Goku truly adorable and endearing.

Hearing his words, Bulma felt like crying.

From her perspective, of course, Goku could say it didn't matter—he had already received the Flying Nimbus.

But she couldn't say that out loud, since that was just how this kid was.

In the end, she had no choice but to accept that her efforts for the day had gone unrewarded.

"Let's go. It's too cold by the sea, and we need to keep moving. The next Dragon Ball is several hundred miles away," Bulma said as she took out a Hoi-Poi Capsule. Upon opening it, a cross country motorcycle appeared.

Goku leaped onto it, and the two of them sped off while there was still some daylight left.

They continued their journey until around eight or nine at night, eventually arriving at a village under the cover of darkness.

This was the same village that Oolong had terrorized in the original work and the place where they were supposed to find the fourth Dragon Ball.

However, the storyline had changed—Talot had already taken that Dragon Ball.

Although the Dragon Ball was gone, the events with Oolong still unfolded. Spending the night in the village, Goku and Bulma took action the next day. Under Goku's overwhelming strength, Oolong was beaten back into his true form.

After learning the full story and understanding Oolong's miserable situation, one one blamed him. Instead, he was even invited to join the team in a roundabout way.

That day, the group set out once again, eventually finding the six-star Dragon Ball by a forest stream two hundred miles away.

Perhaps it was fate, but this Dragon Ball seemed to have an uncanny connection to this location.

After finding the Dragon Ball, the trio continued their journey. Before long, they crossed through the mountain forest and entered a vast, barren desert.
