Faded? what does that even mean

Before I got to utter my question, people started screaming
"Where the fuck are we!?"
"Yeah!
"This is Illegal!!!"
"Do you know who I am!"
Amidst all of the screaming, it suddenly began shaking

With every passing minute the voice though robotic seemed to become darker.
[Pick your poison]
Suddenly at the center of the cave, a hole had suddenly opened up.
"No no no! aghhhhh!"
Those at the center of the cave began falling.
"Everyone Run"
"Stop Getting In the Way!"
"Fuck fuck NOOO!"
"GET OUTT!!!!"
I saw them run as fast as they can, their face filled with terror and exhaustion, with their sweat slowly trickling down their faces, they didn't know what was in the hole nor how fast it had happened, but in a couple seconds almost 40 people fell in the hole. I did not know what to do nor did I understood what was happening.

Only a few of those who had previously stayed at the center remained.

Though no one was falling I can still hear the screams of those who had fallen, the sounds of their flesh being mangled, their agonizing screams, their screams asking for help.
As this waged on, the screams from the hole slowly died down.

No one moved, no one uttered a single word. The voice had now seemingly become an echo of their screams.

The people who protested were now silent, in a couple of minutes so much had happened.

"Why am I here!"

The eerie silence was now suddenly replaced by the frustration of those who remain.

It was after this was announced the sound of pistons echoed within the cave.
A couple of seconds passed I began to notice a sharp object protruding at the center, where the hole is.
Many were silent as they eerily observe the object.
Whoosh! whoosh!
As the pistons continued to push something out of the hole, the object can now be observed.
A wooden spike?
whoosh! whoosh! clunk-clunk!
As the mechanical sounds continue to echo , more spikes started to protrude at the center.
It was then the bodies of those who had fallen can be seen under these spikes, their faces blodied, their flesh mangled, with some having their heads crashed under the pressure of the spike and of those who had fallen above them, flesh, blood, brain matter spread around the spikes and of what used to be the hole.
"Mommy?"
Amongst the crowd a child began walking towards the center,
there was no response
"M-mommy?"
"No Dont!"
Before the child reached the center, a woman appeared within the crowd and ran towards the child, seemingly trying to stop him, it was the girl who spoked to me earlier.

It was then a fire started burning under the spikes and burned the corpses, along with the child.
Ahh-Ahhhh-AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
The girl stared at the center seemingly devoid of any emotion. The seemingly joyful, hopeful girl whom I previously met was now gone.
I watched it happen, I did not know what was happening, I tried to avoid it, I tried to not understand it, I tried....
And there it is again
