Chapter 245 - Chapter 245: "City of Charity" "Resurrection and Rebirth" "Solidification of Light"

Quickly, the CCS-class and CRS-class ships passed through the gateway and left the atmosphere of Shield World 0459. Once they reached their designated orbit, the fleet went into standby mode.

At this moment, inside the bridge of the CCS-class ship:

"Roar!"

Xian Der, the golden-armored Elite who had spent half a year learning multiple human languages and had become particularly adept at using phrases like "Nima" and "Wocao," let out a roar unique to his species. Waving his hand, he gave the command:

"Communications officer! Inform the fleet to initiate slipspace jump in thirty seconds. Destination: City of Charity!"

"Yes, sir!"

The communications officer immediately relayed the command to the four CRS-class ships. Xian Der then turned toward the three Primarchs standing near the central control platform and continued:

"Gentlemen, we should arrive at the Covenant capital in approximately two Earth days. Once there, I will follow the prearranged plan to report the research progress on Shield World 0459 to the Covenant High Council, to temporarily stabilize them."

Following Xian Der's gaze, the three Primarchs in question were Fulgrim with his long white hair, Angron with his kind expression, and...

"Hahaha! Father promised that if I could persuade the Sangheili to switch sides, I'd be free to smash the corrupt high council to pieces!"

...Leman, whose wild beard was as untamed as his loud laughter, echoing across the bridge.

All three Primarchs wore their custom Mithril-powered armor, and in terms of height, they were close to four meters tall, much like Mortarion.

"Don't forget Father's instructions," Angron said, placing his hand on Leman's left shoulder. "We are to follow Captain Xian Der's orders and not act on our own."

"Relax, relax!" Leman waved dismissively, assuring them there would be no problem.

As they spoke, the real-time display on the central control console showed a vortex emitting a faint purple light forming in front of their CCS-class ship. The next moment, the screen was filled with an even brighter purple glow.

At the same time, in the top-floor office of the command building in the core base:

"Boss, the Primarchs Fulgrim and the others have entered slipspace."

Standing on the left side of the desk, Ap, dressed in a black uniform and now possessing a physical body, was reporting to Samuel Young. Unlike most items in the room, which were oversized, Ap was the only thing that remained at a normal "human" scale. The rest of the office furniture was larger to accommodate Samuel Young's enormous frame, which, even without his powered armor, made him taller and more robust than his sons.

Neither Ap nor the company employees seemed to find this unusual anymore.

"Got it," Samuel Young responded briefly after hearing the report, then returned to reviewing the progress reports labeled "Division 09."

Seven days ago, he had used the Ark's teleportation system to visit a relic base and sacrifice his blood to open the ninth space gate. Through reconnaissance by hellhounds and images and videos captured by the advance team, he immediately recognized that the parallel universe on the other side was the setting of Cyberpunk 2077.

Of course, based on the intelligence gathered by the advance team, he could not yet pinpoint the exact timeline, nor determine whether the legendary figure known as "V" had already inserted the RELIC chip.

Only after Jill Valentine and two investigators infiltrated Night City did they confirm that the timeline was before the main events of the game.

Although Cyberpunk 2077 featured advanced cybernetic technology and a wide variety of weapons, it was not a world that Atlas needed to focus on heavily. Atlas had already acquired mind transfer and cloning technologies from the Avatar universe, which were more efficient and cost-effective than Arasaka's RELIC biochip.

As of now, the company had successfully cloned the bodies of some fallen soldiers, per their final wishes, and transferred their pre-copied consciousness into these bodies, thus completing their physical "resurrection."

Among these resurrected soldiers, over 70% had their memories modified, erasing any knowledge of their original death. These individuals were reintegrated into society, claiming to have retired due to severe injuries. Their comrades were also required to sign additional confidentiality agreements to ensure the emotional stability of the clones.

For the remaining 30%, the company followed the soldiers' original wishes, informing the clones of all the facts and giving them two options:

1. Have their memories altered, like the 70%, and return to their families and society as a replacement for their original selves.

2. Erase all existing memories, including those of their families and the company, and start a new life with a completely fresh identity.

Atlas implemented these procedures to respect the original soldiers' wishes and to ensure the well-being of the clones. After all, no one would want to wake up and immediately be told, "You are just a clone of Sergeant So-and-So, and your mission is to continue fighting for the company." No one wanted to live as someone else's substitute.

Such situations would inevitably create psychological issues and hidden dangers.

Thus, Samuel Young dispatched a newly developed AI, created with the assistance of Silent Shore, to the Cyberpunk universe with the goal of "liberation."

Having played the game, explored its settings, and watched the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series, he deeply understood that the lower and middle-class citizens of Night City had no rights at all. The powerful elite monopolized almost all resources, and even the government had to tread carefully to avoid conflicts with the megacorporations.

He also informed Dorn, the governor of Terrera, to always be ready for deployment. If Division 09, established in Night City, faced military aggression from Arasaka or Militech, Dorn would take decisive action to suppress it.

Although Terrera's human elite were transitioning from a medieval era of magic to one of firearms and space fleets, they were more than capable of handling Cyberpunk's law enforcement conflicts.

According to the latest reports from Price and Selene, the operations of Division 09 were proceeding smoothly, with no immediate need for changes.

However, while reviewing the reports, Samuel Young issued a directive to Selene to "pay closer attention to Gloria Martinez and her son David Martinez, if circumstances allow."

Afterward, Samuel dismissed the screen related to Division 09 and glanced at a document labeled "Hardlight Technology." Raising his left hand, he tapped the "Expand" button with a solid feel, preparing to review the detailed description once again.

In truth, the so-called "hardlight" was one of the most widely used technologies by the Forerunners. Hardlight was simply an abbreviation for "Bose-Einstein Photon Field," a method of converting light into solid matter.

For example, the "light bridges" found in the ruins of Harvest were first projected as bridges of light and then solidified, allowing personnel and vehicles to cross.
