The question hung in the air between them. Marcus's expression shifted, something unreadable passing across his ancient features. The obsidian walls seemed to darken around them, the shifting patterns momentarily stilling as if the Sanctum itself was listening for his answer.
"Yes," he said finally, but the hesitation in his voice made Samantha's heart skip. "We can return... but there are complications."
"What kind of complications?" Kai asked, immediately alert.
Marcus sighed, his gaze drifting to the window-like section of wall that occasionally revealed those strange, unknown constellations. "The Sanctum exists at a nexus of realms, which means pathways open to many destinations, not just our original world."
