Old Ancestor Granny had married five husbands one after another, birthing heaps of fox offspring and grandcubs. In time, these children had children, and their children had more, creating quite a large den of foxes. Within a two to three hundred-mile radius, all the foxes were from their family. However, Old Ancestor Granny might have been living too well, incurring the jealousy of the heavens, for suddenly one day, the once bustling family of foxes began to contract a strange illness, passing it from one to another, with each succumbing to death one after another. Despite trying all sorts of methods, Old Ancestor Granny could not save her descendants until only seven or eight remained alive. It was then that Old Ancestor Granny began to understand a bit of the pattern,
"The male foxes within a three hundred-mile radius of this mountain can't be married off. You go out there and find some!"
