Broken watched the massive whirlpool swirling at the center of the lake. The water spun with unnatural force, yet the surface remained eerily calm outside the vortex.
Something about it felt off.
Curious, he knelt down and dipped his hand into the water. Cold.
Colder than it should be.
Strangely, despite the intense energy in this place, there were no monsters nearby. As if even the creatures that roamed the canyon avoided this lake entirely.
His eyes narrowed. "If the lake isn't deep, then why is the whirlpool this strong? This doesn't make sense."
He turned to Gaia. "Any guesses?"
Gaia studied the swirling water, her gaze impassive. "The current is too powerful—it's being pulled toward something deeper."
Broken frowned. "Deeper? As in… underground?"
Gaia remained still for a moment before answering. "Or perhaps…" She glanced at him. "It leads into the ocean depths."
Broken's thoughts halted. "Wait. You mean this whirlpool might be connected to the deep sea?"
