Chapter 2 - The Cursed Queen

The jealous god, now a broken god, only a shackled mess in the abyss awaiting a judgment to be passed. 'Where had it all gone wrong?' He wondered. He had been denied the one thing that he had dedicated his existence to. He had been left with only bitterness and a growing hatred and cynicism which made him cruel and corrupted by his divine duty.

"Where had it gone wrong?"

An infinite multiverse of possibilities. So many worlds, some similar and some so unique and different but one thing was true of all. All the worlds were birthed from the will of the chief creation god. It was at that moment that all sentient and thinking beings in each of these worlds felt the touch of the god of creation Vakma. He had touched the essence of reality to make all aware of what was about to transpire. A thing never before considered possible, humans were taking a god to trial. And Vakma stood above all in the light of his court as Supreme judge.

"WILL THE FIRST WITNESS TO THE ALLEGED CRIMES OF THE

ACCUSED STEP FORTH AND GIVE US THEIR TESTIMONY NOW," the voice of Vakma, a dichotomy of power and gentleness spoke out and all bore witness.

An extremely beautiful woman with flawless caramel skin and features that proudly revealed her African descent stepped forward to bow before the god. She lifted her hands in supplication and spoke out, " Through the grace of your will, I, Celeste Chirandu will give my account of what I went through at the hands of Upendo the god of love."

She spoke in a strong voice, humble as one in the presence of gods was meant to be but it did nothing to hide the pride and nobility in her pattern of speech. It was clear to see that she was an educated and intelligent woman and it only further added some gravitas to her tale.

Celeste was the daughter of a Queen and she was born 1000 years ago. She came from the world of Eshambo specifically the nation of Zimbabwe. It was a beautiful country full of beauty and resources and which had only made it more powerful but that was not what truly made it special. Hers were a people ruled by women. Men had their own roles and were their life partners. Her mother was one of the wisest queens to have ever lived and she had made their nation greater than their predecessors since their ancestors 5 generations past.  Suffice it to say Celeste was the most beautiful woman in the land and many had taken to composing great works of music, and poetry as well as tried(and failed) to capture her radiance in works of art.  So it was not beyond expectations when the time came for men to prove their valor and value in trying to earn her affection that men came from within their matriarchal nation and even from beyond. From nations that were not accepting of the ability of women, men came in search of her hand. It could be said that many of these men were prepared to adopt a whole new way of life just to have the honor of her hand in marriage. And so they all came before her, some wise, some strong, some beautiful in their masculinity, and some just idiotic in their pursuit of her beauty. There was no end to the amount of gifts and treasures that were given in her name to the royal family of Zimbabwe. She sat through it all and she went through all manner of emotions as she listened to these men who were after her. She felt, pride, vanity, annoyance, attraction, anger, and even amusement at some of these men and their antics. At some point, she turned to the only man she had loved at that point, her father and he gave her a silly grin that he always did and that she inherited from him. She was a combination of her mother's grace and wisdom and her father's infinite charm and sociability. She could just imagine what was going through his head, 'Patience my flower, you will know the archer of the heart when you see him.' This was something he had always told her since she was a child asking her parents when they knew that they were right for each other. He liked to quip that the truest of love was found when a man who was the natural hunter of her affection fired his arrows at her heart to win it. And so she turned back to look at the men around her and see if any was the supposed archer. She had always had a supernatural gift of reading people and understanding their grandest motivations and also seeing their inner shadow. She knew that a human was born with light within him or her but also darkness. Some let their shadow grow strong enough to snuff out the light within. These kinds of people scared even her and she always kept her distance from such psychopaths. So she looked through these men and she saw lust in all of them, it was almost disgusting to look at them with her gift. She saw how some lusted after her beauty and sought to possess it, while others more delusional lusted after Celeste's power. She was the heir to the throne of one of the most powerful nations in the land. They seemed to think they could gain a path to power through her which was ridiculous as no man would bring her to heel. She almost rolled her eyes at all of them in utter contempt. That was when she noticed him. He was quite peculiar, he was dressed in fine clothes however they looked wrong on him as if he was wearing the borrowed clothes of someone else. He was attractive in a boyish manner which was peculiar and out of place within the throng of men around him. But what truly caught her eye was when he sneaked a look at her and immediately looked down almost as if terrified to be seen looking at her. This made her smile and it lit up the whole room. Most men assumed the smile was for them and you could see them suddenly pump up their chests and act like prized animals strutting about. But the shy man simply shrunk to the collection of offerings from that day which were piled to one side of the throne room. He dropped a small package that was unassuming and not glamorous amongst the other treasures and then he went and stood far off but within a distance that he could look upon her. Her inner gift could only sense a longing from him which took her by surprise a second time. She found herself curious about what his proposed gift was but before she could instruct one of the royal attendants to go and get it for her a sudden explosion occurred.
