Chapter 7 - 1. Echoes in the Inferno.

A heavy curtain covered the sky, engulfing the world in total darkness. Though it was night, it did little to divert people from their activities.

A young man sat at the edge of a skyscraper. He looked at the city from high above with a calm gaze.

He had bright silver hair, which gave off a soft glow amidst the darkness. A devilishly handsome face and royal purple eyes gave him a striking noble appearance.

This world is known as Urax, a world covered in mysteries and fantasy one can only dream of existing. Urax is vast.

As the world evolves, so does everything about it. Being a magical world, it has a high concentration of energies and is able to house powerful beings without repulsion.

This brings us back to me. I am Anorax Saki, a guy who is quite ambitious though I always want a calm and peaceful life.

What a joke. That's not possible! I know, right.

Anyway, there are 5 Empires which hold great power and influence on Urax, each situated on a large landmass.

Currently, I am in the Dragon Empire. Dragons being dragons, they named the Empire after themselves. The stronger fist rules, so other races, after being defeated, turned silent.

One would think of flying mindless beasts or lizards, whatever they are; surprisingly, that was not the case here.

In cities, flying was prohibited—that's what brings us toward the cars racing around.

This is the Royal Capital City of the Dragon Empire, Dragnart City. A city of luxuries and precious treasures. Innately, these beings loved treasures more than anything.

Anorax tilted his head. There, quite a distance from the city, a grand castle stood mighty and proud. It gave off a powerful presence.

With his sharp eyes, he saw various ancient engravings on the castle walls. The damned place was so heavily guarded that no one was allowed near; otherwise, he would have gone there for a "tour."

The pressure of the guards alone sent a slight shiver down his spine, even though they were quite a distance apart.

"When is it about to start?" he asked.

[~Anytime, Anorax~. The World Core can no longer withstand the pressure. The beasts have gone berserk. There is bloodshed everywhere—it won't take long, about two days maximum.]

Hearing the response, I couldn't help but take a deep breath. I had to get 'it' no matter what. I stood up and walked away.

A golden portal appeared, and I disappeared inside.

LONIO PLANET

This planet was too small compared to Urax. It's a world ruled by beasts, as they are the sole natives.

The planet's location was a mystery to Anorax; the only thing he got were the coordinates from the ancient ruins he "visited."

The planet was scorching hot. Magma erupted vigorously from the ground. The earth was bright red, covered in flames, as more and more kept erupting from the ground.

He had appeared on the safe side. As things are now, it won't be long before the whole planet is devoured.

There are no beasts anywhere near. Let's walk around and see.

I got the general location of 'it,' but let's hope it doesn't involve reaching the core. If so, the Will of the World will do everything to drag me into hell.

Beast corpses could be seen along my way. It was a violent battle driven by their instinct for survival.

A large number of beasts, numbered in thousands, were trapped in a cold bloodbath. Their furious glowing eyes fixed on each other.

[Luckily, your fears are no longer valid. What you seek is nearer—only after you manage to pass through those 'pests,' that is.]

I couldn't help but smile bitterly as I looked at those 'pests.' Oh well, they were nothing in her eyes.

A sword appeared in his hand. Strength gathered in his feet. He disappeared.

Rumble!!!

He left a golden trail as lightning cracked furiously.

Faster than they could react, he slashed swiftly. It was followed by powerful kicks, which cracked the beasts' heads open. He swung, thrust, kicked, and punched so fast that hundreds fell in seconds.

Blood splashed into the air. Heads rolled. The sight was gruesome. Anorax didn't stop swinging his sword in the slightest. He just couldn't afford to do that.

Their instincts kicked in; driven by fear, they became berserk and swarmed at him. Their huge bodies attacked him head-on.

Crack! Crack!

A large horde of beasts, numbered in thousands, had their glowing eyes fixed on the young man who ruthlessly slaughtered their kin.

A creature three meters tall charged toward him. Its fore horn glowed with great intensity. It was scorching red hot. The creature blasted everything in its path.

Anorax twisted his body swiftly at an insane angle. Cold sweat appeared on his forehead. The horn nearly grazed his skin.

The unlucky ones were blasted into meat paste. The beast spun around with surprising agility, given its large body.

Now steady, he punched its head downward. A powerful shockwave swept the battlefield, killing hundreds in a second.

He gave it no time to react as he punched out furiously. Each punch generated a powerful shockwave. Its skin was incredibly tough, but he paid no mind as its head was turned into meat paste.

His eyes flickered with golden lightning. The sky darkened over several thousand kilometers. Thunder roared, and several lightning bolts descended.

It was as if a heavenly decree had been enacted; lightning blasted the beasts, reducing the unlucky ones to ashes.

The weak ones ran off as the carnage was unbearable. Thousands of their kin were killed without knowing how they died.

He looked at the aftermath indifferently. Several craters could be seen everywhere. Blood flowed like an endless river. Beasts squirmed on the ground in agony. Their bodies deformed.

A strong metallic scent and blood mist filled the air. His body was soaked in blood. There were a few wounds on him, but they regenerated swiftly.

The attack drained nearly half of his energy reserves. He walked toward his target, his steps slow but steady.

[Seems like you were not the only one after 'it'~]

Away from him, a giant ape stood before a white dome. The ape had a crown on its head. It gave off a powerful aura; its presence commanded authority.

It turned around. Its gaze fixed on the bloody figure nearby.

"You're quite strong, 'human.' I hope you enjoyed the company. I see you're satisfied." It stood a bit away from the dome. "I don't know how you managed to pass the world barrier. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Let's get this finished—"

His eyes widened in shock as the ape appeared before him and punched out. It was incredibly fast.

Boom!!

He was blasted away like a broken kite. It wasted no time and chased after him.

Boom!

A dent appeared where he had been. The ape was covered by metal armor. It glittered under the glaring sun rays.

He disappeared. They traded blows. Their figures became a blur. The earth cracked wherever they appeared.

Boom!!!

The ape's giant body was sent crashing into the mountain peak.

His body was beyond miserable. His clothes were reduced to rags. There were metal scraps around him.

His regeneration kicked in, healing his wounds.

The ape was not any better, either. Its majestic body armor was plucked off ruthlessly, bit by bit. Its body was covered in fresh wounds.

He held his sword tightly. Lightning flickered around his body.

Metallic gauntlets formed around its hands. Flames engulfed them, much to his surprise.

He didn't expect to find a dual-element user, especially a beast in this world.

The ape appeared, unleashing its full might, and punched out.

Booooom!!!

Debris flew everywhere. The earth cracked. Huge cracks spread out. Space vibrated.

He blocked and spun around. His foot connected with its chin. It staggered a bit.

He propelled himself swiftly, landing a powerful kick on its head. He moved so fast that he left afterimages.

Roar!!!

The ape let loose. A suffocating pressure descended on the battlefield.

He scoffed and counterattacked. The ground shattered at their sheer might.

Huge cracks spread around the ground, combined with the relentless eruptions; the world was on the verge of destruction. It wasn't an estimation anymore but a guarantee.

If it so happened, the world and anything in space would cease to exist.

The sky, darker than ever, cracked furiously, and thunder roared. Lightning crashed down, far more dangerous and stronger than before.

And then…

Booooooom!!!
