Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Sword Master

Chihiro had vague suspicions, however the hardest part was finding the rest of the katana. Meanwhile Mei was still having a talk with Himeko. Although one thing brought him out of his stupor.

"I won't allow it."

Mei and Himeko both turned to look at him. "I don't agree with your method. Planting a bomb near her heart is not happening." Mei herself looked pained "But what if I hurt someone again?" Chihiro shook his head "I'll stop you, simple as that. It helps that you're a bad match up for me. However planting a bomb in your heart is just plain wrong even if it's for security."

Himeko looked conflicted but resolute "Look, I get what you feel right now. But you can't just guarantee that you can stop her again."

A clink was heard as a dragon shaped cloud emerged. Himeko immediately noted that it was different to the goldfish. "Kuregumo."

Himeko continued to watch the dragon cloud swirl around the room. Chihiro glanced "Is this perhaps enough? If one enchanted blade wasn't enough to assure you then two should."

Himeko stammered internally before coming to a sigh "I'll tell Theresa your proposal." She turned around and looked at Mei one last time. "You're blessed to have such a good friend Mei."

She soon left with steady footsteps while Mei who was still isolated asked "Thank you for stopping me before Chihiro. I owe you a lot." Chihiro simply smiled gently "I'd really appreciate a good full meal. It's been a while since I had a good meal."

Mei's face brightened up before narrowing her eyes with a glare, "I knew it. You never had a proper lunch after. That protein bar was your lunch." Chihiro sighed "I thought it'd be too much on you if you were to make three portions and with your situation at that time I didn't want to impose."

Mei sighed before feeling a warmth in her heart, "I'll make sure you'll be well fed as long as I'm here." She stared at the newly revealed enchanted blade. "So that's Kuregumo is it? Cloud Gouger, a good name. Can I see it?"

Chihiro unholstered the katana before handing it to her. "It's beautiful isn't it? But ultimately a katana is for taking the lives of people. The only thing you can do is make sure you aren't facing it towards the wrong people."

Mei nodded in appreciation before unsheathing the blade only for nothing to happen. No dragon clouds no feeling of energy welling up. Nothing. She pointed at the blade before asking "What happened?"

Chihiro explained, "It's the eternal contract, ownership for life until death. The sword has been configured to only be wielded by it's contractor."

Mei nodded in understanding, "So what can it do?" Chihiro chuckled slightly "Kuregumo has three abilities just like Enten. One of them funnily enough is very coincidental."

He grabbed the hilt of the katana as the clouds soon emerged from the blade as he pointed it outside the window.

"Mei" A small miniature lightning bolt was soon discharged through the window and into the sky. Mei looked dumbfounded, Chihiro chuckled "I know, Mei is the ability of thunder and lightning." "Yui" A small rose made of ice soon formed from the blade as he placed it on Mei's hand.

"Yui, the power of ice."

"Kou" Soon the empty jug of water was filled as water emerged from the clouds of Kuregumo. "Kou is the power over the forms of water."

Mei gave a small clap as Chihiro sheathed the blade and offered her a hand. "Come on, let's get lunch. I'm starving."

"Hopefully those days bygone return." Mei hoped.

Chihiro soon seemed much happier and more acclimated to daily life. Simple fighting lessons and education, nothing too hard.

Although, it seemed that Enten had gained some fans. Or rather, the goldfish. Each had a separate fan club. Currently, Kuro Fan Club had the highest member count with Nishiki following in second and Aka last. Aka was understandable to some extent as they had rarely seen it, and none of the students knew the full extent of Aka.

Although there was one aspect of the training Chihiro never enjoyed. It was the class monitor's beatings. Chihiro could wager that when it came to using a blade in close combat and supplementing it with hand to hand there was no issue. However, pure hand to hand combat was a different story.

Once again he got knocked into the floor with only the energy reinforcing his body. Although if only one thing came out of this, it was the remote activation of the enchanted blades. He found that the hard way when Hua's punch was about to knock his teeth out.

"Let's end it here." Hua soon left as Chihiro simply sat there and though to himself. Mei and Bronya were helping out Kiana with remedial lessons. Hua had her duties to do. Himeko rarely appeared as he lived in an independent room due to the skewed gender ratio.

He was lost. Apart from looking for the remaining enchanted blades, he didn't know what to do. Of course, fighting the honkai was one aspect to it. But it was more for fighting for survival, not looking for a fight.

Mei and Kiana both had meaningful goals. Mei wanted to control the world ending power she wielded and use it for good. Kiana wanted to get stronger in order to find her father. Yet what was he here for?

Collect the enchanted blades? What reason did he have? The two enchanted blades remained by his side as he pondered the situation. He didn't belong to this world. He was a part of this world already. But he didn't truly belong here.

Nor was this situation like other cliche novels where the protagonist knows everything. He didn't. He only knew about Kagurabachi that was it. In a world like this where everything throws curveballs at you. It's really hard to figure out.

Chihiro soon sighed before heading towards the digital library in order to study up. He heard that this method was immersive and fun to learn. Even working on the paramecium. However when he entered the library, a glitch had occurred. He found himself on a battlefield.

Honkai beasts surging in hordes. It was a tsunami of beasts. A wolf soon lunged at Chihiro as he felt a pang of pain from the scratch. Immediately he was on guard, this situation was most likely similar to the simulation. Pain is felt and so is fatigue, but death shouldn't count here.

"Enten."

In an instant Kuro shred through the horde only for the thunder to blast away areas of the horde one by one.

A single word soon sent chills down Chihiro's spine.

"Magatsumi, Malediction."

It was slow but the sound of dripping could be heard clearly on the battlefield. Flowers bloomed and insects propagated.

Butterflies, centipedes, dragonflies and spiders all crawled along the blooming plants and flowers. The honkai beasts that were touched immediately howled as they soon all broke down.

The source of it all was a man wearing a kimono. He soon locked eyes with Chihiro before they landed on his waist. While Chihiro recognised the other blade being held in the mysterious man's hand.

"Enten?"/ "Kuregumo?"
