Chapter 6 - Chap 6: Meeting the Mothers

"Hmm, and why do you want to do that?"

"To not make enemies and to know how much power I must display before other people so that I can't become queen."

"And why would you think you would need to do that?"

"Oh, please. As you guys said, power attracts attention, meaning that power rules in your society. Not that there is something wrong with that. If the one in power isn't a tyrant, then it's fine, but seeing the demon king, I already can tell he isn't a power-hungry fool."

"Yes, you are 100% correct on that."

"I know I am. You guys kind of told me so."

"Sigh, well, let's start at the top. Uwe Daimonas is the king of all demons. Then it's me, the queen, Leah Daimonas. I have three children. Lucas is the oldest. Julia is the second oldest."

"Oh, that rude girl from a while back."

"I am leaving. See you guys later." The demon king said this, leaving the room.

"Alright. Rude? Yes, I guess she might have been rude to you. Well, she does have a reason to be. After all, you did kill her fiancé."

"Uh, I heard I did. I will do it again if needed." I said, adding the last part a bit more seriously.

"And wouldn't have cared for the second time as well." Queen Leah said it with disdain.

"Pfft, I guess you didn't like him."

"He forced the engagement with my daughter, and he's 34 years older than her."

"That's disgusting," I said, frowning or trying to make it hurt like a bitch.

"Don't do that too much. You are going to hurt yourself."

"Yeah, I figured that out."

"Well, the last child is Karl, only 12 years old."

"So young."

"Then there is the first concubine, Lina. She is also my best friend, so you can trust her as much as you trust me."

"So not much, okay," I said, nodding to myself sagely.

"That's quite rude of you, but understandable. Now for her children, she only has twins, actually. a boy and a girl named Time and Sara."

"Cool."

"Now, there are two others, but I will tell you another time. They are a sensitive subject."

"I understand," I said, nodding.

Knock knock.

"Yo, Leah, can I come in?"

"Give me a second, Lina," Leah said towards the door. "Now come, Ren, get back in bed."

"Yes, yes," I said, teleporting back onto the bed before grunting in pain and grabbing my right arm. "Fuck! I forgot about that." I said, referring to the drip stand that I left behind.

"Your lucky everything was already injecting into your system, or else I would have been upset." The queen said this, grabbing the drip stand from the other side of the room where I was sitting.

"Yeah? You still sound upset, though." I said, chuckling.

"Lina, you can come in," Leah said, throwing a blanket over me.

"Sorry for the intrusion." Lina said, opening the door."

"You always say that when you come into my labs."

"Well, you do remember the last time I just came in, don't you?"

"Yeah, I stabbed you with a scalpel." The queen said it nonchalantly.

"Pfftt, what!? Fuck, my eyes!" I shouted, making them both look at me weirdly.

"Oh, don't worry, it wasn't that bad. She just stabbed me in the hand."

"I understand you guys have a better healing factor than humans, but hell. How are you guys still friends?" I said. Even though I still couldn't see and my feet weren't on the ground, the sound of her voice told me exactly where she was standing.

"Hmm, so is it true you adopted her?" Lina said, inspecting me and just ignoring my question.

"Yeah, isn't she lively?"

"Yeah, but something feels off about her." Lina said, probably narrowing her eyes at me.

'Wasn't she telling me who I am?' I was confused about wanting to test that subject.

"Oh, that might be because I am a human, not a demon."

Silence—that's all that I was greeted with after my statement.

"Leah, you know I don't hate humans or anything, but letting one join the royal family? Isn't that a bit too much?" Lina said reluctantly.

"Oh, shouldn't I have told her?" I mumbled with fake embarrassment.

"Nah, Uwe already knows and has accepted it, and for problems in the future, We just need to hide her face for a while until the demons trust her."

"Hmm, but what if?"

"I am not power-hungry. All I want is to travel the world, and knowing that I can travel four worlds just made it a bigger dream." I said, interrupting her and bringing up a long-standing dream of mine.

"No, that's not what I was going to ask, but it is good to know, no less. I was worried about how much blood would be spilled if the other factions found out there was another princess."

"Oh, to answer your question, let me fully introduce my new daughter to you. Her name is Ren Diamonos, formerly known as Ren Bell."

"Bell, Ren Bell, are you fucken crazy!? You mean the Ren Bell that killed our earth general? What was his name again? Whatever. Sigh. If this is known, there will be a shitshow." Lina said, baffled.

'She didn't even care about his name.' I thought, holding a straight face.

"She shouts a lot," I mumbled, getting more comfortable on the bed.

"Yes, but we at least shouldn't be worried too much about assassins."

"Yeah, if what I heard is true, the assassins should be the ones we need to worry about."

"Wha-what? What sort of sh*t did you hear? It sounds like I am a crazy animal that will rip people apart." I said, baffled, facing her.-

"You did in the throne room, though," Leah mumbled.

"Pochi."

"Well, I heard you massacred everyone in the main hall a few days ago and even stabbed Uwe in the gut before being killed. Or so it goes, but stabbing the demon king. Might I add that not a lot of people are able to do that? There are also rumours about you on the battlefield. Ripping through enemies like they are made of butter or making them butter."

"Tsk, your king was going easy on me. He is at least 20 times stronger than me. And I was killed?" I said, waving her off.

"I will explain later about that." Leah said she was waving me off.

"And the massacre?" Lina asked, confused.

"Oh, that happened. I wasn't going to take my execution lying down."

"So you killed like 40 demons on your own, on their home turf, no less. No weapon or anything."

"Well, if you put it like that, it sounds quite brutal. But one thing: I did get a sword." I said it sarcastically.

"...that. Do you know what common sense is?"

"Yes, but I know human common sense, not a demon's common sense."

"There isn't actually a big difference between them."

"There isn't?" I said, inclining my head.

"No, you will be surprised when you see it. We are quite similar to humans."

"I presume you learned all this data about our common sense from this crazy doctor," I said, pointing at Leah.

"Hey!?"

"Yes, sorry, but I really need to ask what is wrong with your eyes. Why are they bandaged up like that? And most importantly, while you like that, how the hell do you know where I am the entire time?" Lina suddenly said, snapping.

"Because I am just that good," I said, shrugging smugly.

"Tsk." Both Leah and Lina clicked their tongues at my answer.

"And for the eyes, ask your crazy doctor friend over there."

"Yeah, I gave her new and improved eyes," Leah said happily.

"And to hide her human heritage, I presume."

"Of course," Leah said, confirming her statement.

"Sigh, what variant of eyes did you give her?"

"Aah, the newest, of course," Leah said arrogantly.

"The ones you made, like, what? Two weeks ago?"

"What!? You made these things!" I was surprised.

"Yes, did you think I was lying?"

"Yes."

"..."

"..."

"Don't look at me like that. Will you believe everything someone who is only known to be crazy tells you?"

"She does have a fair point," Lina said, chuckling at the shocked face of the demon queen.

"Wha-what? Why am I suddenly being attacked?"

"Attacked? No, we just point out facts." Lina and I spoke in sync, making us turn to each other before busting a laugh.

"Now I understand how Uwe felt," Leah mumbled dishearteningly.

"Oh well, what are you planning to do with her until her eyes are healed? Hmm, she also needs a makeover." Lina said, looking me over.
