Chapter 2 - Awakening the Flame

"Hey, System, what can I do?" Adam asked, his voice barely above a whisper. He could feel the weight of his powers settling in around him, and there was a strange mix of fear and excitement thrumming beneath the surface.

[Your first demon ability is the Flame of the Blue Fox. You can use this flame for both offense and defense. While it's active, you will be impervious to harm.]

Adam's heart raced faster as excitement surged through him. "What are my abilities for the Flame of the Blue Fox?" he asked, eager to test out his newfound power.

[You have four new skills unlocked. Would you like to know them?]

"Yes," Adam answered quickly, his eyes wide with anticipation.

The system's response flooded his mind like a burst of energy:

[Your Skills are:]

Flame Wings[Create flame-like wings to fly.]

Flame Rise[Cover your body entirely in blue flames, allowing you to unleash either a barrage of small fireballs or one massive fire beam.]

Spikey Flame Wheel[Coat your body in flames, turning it into a spiked wheel that spins for offense and defense.]

Flame Pillar[A defensive technique that creates a wall of fire, shielding you from harm.]

Adam's mind raced as he absorbed the information. His breath quickened. He had powers. Real powers. And they were already beyond anything he'd imagined. "What else can I unlock? What's next?"

[You have five more unlockable skills.]

Flame Bullet (Unlocked at level 20)

Super Flame Spirit Ball (Unlocked at level 25)

Blue Fox Tail Cloke(Unlocked at full blooded demon class)

Blue Fox Transformation (Unlocked at demon lord class)

[You can also create your own abilities and they will be added to the system.]

The possibilities were endless, and the weight of it all settled into his chest. But his exhaustion was mounting—he needed to sleep, even if the night had been full of too many revelations. The feeling that something was coming, something big, weighed on him like a storm cloud.

The next morning, Adam woke with the lingering image of the mysterious video from the man who had claimed to be tied to his past. As he rubbed his eyes, a message popped up on his system:

[New Quest: Eat Some Food.]

He stood up, stretching the tension from his limbs, and walked to the kitchen. Pulling out a box of cereal, he poured it into a bowl, still dazed by everything that had happened. His hand trembled as he brought a spoonful to his mouth, but the moment the cereal hit his tongue, his stomach rebelled.

"Eww why does this shit taste like…shit" Adam trailed off, checking the expiration date on the box. Before he could think much further, the System interrupted:

[Poison Detected.]

[As a demon, you can only consume fresh flesh. Animal flesh will give you 1 stat point, while human flesh will give you five. Consumption of anything else will result in poisoning.]

Adam recoiled, disgusted by the thought of eating human flesh. He quickly threw the cereal away and grabbed some raw meat from the fridge, reluctant but understanding he needed to eat. As the meat hit his stomach, something shifted inside him. The raw energy coursed through his veins, his stats flickering upward by ten points across the board. He then noticed something new—a stat called Fox Tails.

"System, what's the Fox Tails stat for? Am I going to grow tails?" Adam asked, half-expecting a sarcastic response. There was no reply.

With that, Adam shoved the thoughts aside. His "mom" called from downstairs.

"Adam, come downstairs."

"Coming," he called back, already seeing a new quest notification flash on his screen:

[New Quest: Kill your "so called parents." They know too much.]

[Reward: Stat Points.]

Adam's heart skipped a beat. Kill them? His so-called "parents"? A cold shiver ran down his spine, but there was no room for hesitation. The urgency felt like a pull, like something he couldn't ignore. He was tied to this, whatever it was, and he had to act.

Before heading down, Adam practiced his powers, focusing on controlling the blue flame. It wasn't just a weapon—it was part of him now. He could feel its raw energy, the heat of it beneath his skin. He couldn't wait to see what else he could do with it.

As he walked downstairs, his "mom" greeted him with a fake smile."Oh you changed your hair"

"Yeah, I was going for a new look," Adam said, not caring about the conversation. His mind was already elsewhere, focused on the message that hung heavy in the air.

"Adam, the military will be coming to take you for the next 4 years." His mother's tone shifted, and she looked at him with a sad, almost pitying expression. "We need to tell you something, Adam. We're not your real parents. Your biological parents just left you here, forcing us to raise you. They're long gone, and now, we just want the money for taking care of you. We hope you die powerless in the military. That way, we'll keep getting paid."

Adam froze, a lump forming in his throat. His "father" stepped forward, pulling aside his shirt to reveal a grotesque scar on his chest. "Look what your parents did to me. They were monsters. Just like you."

The words hit like a punch. Adam's hands clenched into fists as the fire inside him roared to life. The betrayal, the manipulation, the lies—they all came crashing down on him at once. He could feel his power building, the blue flames flaring in his eyes.

"I won't let you talk about my parents like that," Adam snarled, his voice low and filled with rage. The blue flame engulfed his body as the white side hair and eyes glowed with an intense blue. The fire coiled around him like a deadly serpent, taking shape as a sphere of pure flame.

Without hesitation, Adam hurled the Flame Sphere at his so-called parents. The fire pierced them both in an instant, leaving only charred remains in their wake. Adam stood there, breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling with each ragged breath.

[New Move Created: Fox Sphere.]

His body was shaking from the intensity of what he'd just done, but there was no turning back. He had crossed a line, and there was no going back to the person he was before.

As Adam collapsed to the floor, drained from the act of killing, another notification popped up on his screen:

[You are now evolving.]

The world around him blurred as the flames within him flickered, but there was a strange calm settling into his mind. He wasn't the same anymore. And whatever came next, he would face it as the person he had just become.
