Chapter 19 - Recruiting

Thea quickly clarified the situation, "No, that's not what I meant. It's like this..." and explained the misunderstanding.

Felicity squinted at her, unsure if she heard Thea clearly. Slowly, she said, "You have some intentions towards me."

Goodness, how did this girl suddenly become so perceptive? Wasn't she always so absent-minded? Thea unintentionally revealed a hint of surprise, which Felicity noticed.

"Haha, I knew it! You're not being honest, little Thea," Felicity teased as she typed away on her computer. "Hmm, state laws actually allow this type of marriage? Do you have a plan for this?"

Thea stared dumbfoundedly as Felicity continued to search for all sorts of bizarre information. Occasionally, she muttered to herself, "But you're still too young; you have to be 18. Maybe I can help you change your identity information? This firewall is terrible."

"I never thought about such things. It seems more exciting than men, huh? Do I have tendencies in this direction?"

"Oh dear, this type of marriage can't happen in a church. But I'm Jewish, so that can be overlooked."

Watching Felicity ramble on, her face turning red, Thea wondered how this misunderstanding came about. She just wanted to ask for her help, but how did it turn into this interpretation? And what's with the church? What was she supposed to do there?

Despite repeated explanations, Felicity still didn't believe her. She stubbornly thought Thea was just covering up and expressed willingness to consider a relationship between them.

To be honest, Felicity may seem a bit unreliable, but she's actually a very charming woman. Her stuttering speech is due to her mind racing ahead too quickly, leaving her mouth unable to keep up. In the original storyline, she captivated both Green Arrow and the Atom, and her own abilities were remarkable. While she admires Felicity, she only hopes she can assist her. It's more of a feeling of eager recruitment than anything else, not this kind of neediness, right?

Standing in front of her desk, Thea could see a bit of something soft below Felicity's neck through her collar. She suddenly realized her mind was wandering. What was she thinking? She was pulled into a wild train of thought by this shameless girl!

Quickly interrupting her nonsense, Thea stopped Felicity from researching vacation destinations that wouldn't violate local laws.

"Stop, please, I just wanted to ask for your help. We can discuss those things later, okay?" Thea felt a twinge of guilt for using her charm to pull the IT girl to her side, but she needed her expertise. Whether the future Green Arrow team had computer support wasn't her concern.

If she felt guilty, Thea remembered there was a person in Central City who could control robotic bees and was also good with computers, second only to Felicity. She could recommend him to Oliver later. Additionally, Felicity's father and ex-boyfriend were both top-notch experts in computers. Thea could offer the entire Felicity family to the Green Arrow team, except for this eye-catching girl. She was quite generous! Whether the aforementioned individuals were villains wasn't within Thea's consideration.

Felicity hugged her shoulders and stared at her, "You definitely have an ulterior motive, spill it. What's up?"

Thea almost fainted. She had explained it twice already, but this girl hadn't heard a word, completely lost in her own fantasies or delusions, not paying attention to what Thea was saying.

She had to explain the establishment of the software department again, fearing that Felicity wouldn't believe her. She also showed her the order from Moira.

Felicity widened her eyes, pointing to herself, "Me? What can I do?" At this stage in her life, she had just left her previous life as a hacker. Though she occasionally hacked, it was more out of habit than anything else. She hadn't figured out her future direction and was still in the phase of not knowing what to do.

Originally, Thea planned to work alone, but she realized there were too many problems. She couldn't handle everything on her own. The first person she thought of as her assistant was Felicity. Her character was absolutely reliable. Though it was a bit early now, the timing was right. It was a good opportunity to share her plans, whether in trust or in friendship.

Thea quickly connected her phone to Felicity's computer and began explaining her plan. Through her conversations with Dr. Hoffman during this time, she had gained a clear understanding of the purposes of most of the equipment in the weapons department. She found several items with strong technical capabilities but posed no threat to society. She creatively combined them, resulting in the device displayed on Felicity's computer screen. It was originally the Marvel Green Goblin Glider , which Thea planned to dye red and rename the Red Arrow Glider.

Originally, Thea Queen was known as both "Red Arrow" and "Speedy." "Speedy" sounded like a petty thief, so she decided to stick with "Red Arrow." At least for now, as she currently suffered from decision-making difficulties.

Using previously seen rescue equipment as the main body, she began modifications. The thing could reach speeds of 400 kilometers per hour and withstand heavy loads. It could float and fly, completely meeting her requirements. The remote control system was removed and replaced with brainwave control.

This required another piece of equipment, the shark positioning helmet introduced earlier. It retained its positioning ability but now, it would reverse-engineer Thea's bioelectric field to achieve brain-computer interface (BCI). Felicity would need to write a significant amount of programs for instruction manipulation.

Finally, they needed the anti-G suit that made Mr. Andre go through the wringer. Thea calculated that the suit could easily withstand the internal organ pressures at speeds of 400 kilometers per hour.

Putting all these pieces together would create a simple version of the Red Arrow Glider. As for the weapons systems, well, that was another story. All these items could be used as excuses, but missiles and such had too singular a purpose. Besides killing and arson, Thea couldn't think of any other use. Being just fifteen and without even a firearms license, how could she justify wanting missiles?

Just this simple equipment took a lot of effort from Thea. Compared to Tony Stark, who could build Mark I from a pile of scrap in a cave, Thea could only attribute it to divine intervention. It didn't seem to conform to objective reality. Even geniuses had limits, right?

Felicity carefully examined the blueprints, her large eyes shining as she looked at Thea. "Cool! This invention is perfect! You're really smart! Let's get started now!"

This girl would eventually become friends with Cisco Ramon, known for his quirky personality, and share a passion for technological weaponry. As the saying goes, she loved makeup, but loved weapons even more!

Although the plan was detailed, they couldn't just dive in and start. What needed to be hidden still had to be concealed. Just because Felicity could be trusted didn't mean others could.

The two of them first drove to Queen Industrial Inc. The place had already been abandoned, and Thea planned to make it her territory in the future. There were still many facilities here, including various processing equipment and welding machines strewn about.
